need some addvice on speakers
i need four new speakers for my 91 crx. i have a pioneer dehp4300 deck with my stock speakers. i dont really want to get a big 'ol sub. i just want to listen to my music loud. what would you all recommend for good sounding speakers. i want to put the new speakers in the stock mounting places. i think they are like 5.5in. big. what do you all think about boston?
well i am not sure about how much i really want to spend. i dont really know the prices of speakers but am willing to pay a good amount of money on four 5in. speakers. what are some good websites to order from.
p.s. what kind of speakers are shown in the pic?

Actually the top ones are MB Quarts,JL Audio,Rockford and the bottom ones are JBL,SONY's ,and Panasonic.
Yep I second that, stay away from JL speakers, but JL subs are definetly a nice brand.
Try listening to the infinity kappa refrence speaker series...their tweeter is very well balanced with the system and not overly bright (hurts ears after a while) like the fosgate Fanatic Q's (apparently the top of the line from fosgate's component sets)

Do you own every companys speaker ? Do you get Every car audio mag out there ? Does alot of your friends have those. sorry for all the questions
I worked at a car stereo store for one year. Our company purchased new car stereo products all the time. So we had a lot of time to test and play with all kinds of new toys. As for JL Audio speakers, its all in personal choice. Like i said we tested these speakers all day long. They sound great when combined with a amp. But if they are used with just a headunit they sound like crap. Rockford Fosgate full range speakers are good to use with a just a headunit. They dont need a lot of power. The higher models like the Q's need more power to sound good.

Stay away from Fosgate subs, they suck. And Boston compnent speakers are the ****. I know their 6.5" RC Componet set is hot ****. Infinitys suck, they will blow.

Whatever make of speaker you buy I think u should opt for components up front which means the main part of the speaker is mounted in the door whilst you can mount the tweeter higher up, allowing the higher frequencies to be more on your ear level, where they should be.
A little bit more fiddly cause you got to wire and fix them somewhere, but the quality of sound is worth it.

As you can tell from the wide variety in responses you're receiving, beauty is in the ear of the beholder. what sounds "tight and accurate" to one person is going to be "harsh and tinny" to another. Do yourself a favor, don't buy any speakers without listening to them with your own ears first. Bring some good CD's of music that you're familiar with. Natural, non-synthisised music is going to show the qualities of the speaker better, esecially female vocalists. Also, don't just listen to them for a second and then switch to the next. Many speakers that sound good at first will be very fatiging to your ear over time. If you're not going to run an amplifier to your speakers, I recomend looking for speaks with a higher efficiancy rating (shoot for more than 90dB @ 1w/1m) But most importantly, trust YOUR ears, not someone else's. I'd also like to say keep your money local with the shop that helps you make your desision, but I've already gone off on enough people about that.
I hope this helps

I run all Infinity kappa in my car with one 10" kappa perfect sub, 2-6.5 component sets, and a set of 4" kappa 2ways. it is pretty awesome for the money. The best quality for the money.
