I had a 9835 and returned it because I traded in cars. I mainly used it for the alpine adapter for the ipod....STAY THE **** AWAY FROM THAT.

But if you only use the deck to play cds and mp3s then go for it. I really enjoyed it and it had great sound quality. Only down side was that it did not flow with the interior AT ALL. Just didn't look right.

how does it not flow with the interior? Does it light up red to match with the rsx's red interior too?

I have a CDA-9835 in my ITR. I worked in Caraudio for quite sometime, and have yet to really see a Headunit to top this one for the price range.

When Alpine released its newest line of heads, I wanted to upgrade to the top model for this year (CDA-9855), but after playing with it, I'm glad I didn't. I actually prefer the older interface and the lack of glide touch. The audio options/eq ability/time correction are all the same.

One thing the CDA-9855 actually lacked that the 9835 HAD was an external D/A convertor.

to the CDA-9845

Here are a few shots of it when it was in my EG

As there is a $350 diff. in the price of the 2 units, CDA-9847 @ $250 MSRP and the CDA-9835 @ $600 MSRP, the 35 is a far better HU 6ch Digital Time Correction, 6 position HP/LP Digital Crossover, 5 band Parametric EQ, 2 or 3 way Digital Crossover. 4V pre outs, 512 colors, 2 line color BioLite Display, and more.

Although the CDA-9847 is a good HU, the CDA-9835 is a far better one, with way more features. 94

the 47 to 35 is like saying should I buy a cavalier or a caddillac.....

I have a 9835 in my honda (and a 9815 in my beater) and love 'em both for their features (time correction, crossovers, etc...) the 9847 isn't even in the same league as the 9835.....

The CDA-9835 is no longer a current production model, so should not be sold anywhere for its regular retail price (which btw - was $549.95)

I'd check around on Ebay. When they were brand new over a year ago, I saw some on there lurking for around the $400 range. Wonder what they are going for now....

LOL I am in Kelowna B.C. Canada, you can get way better pricing at your local Alpine dealer or online, anything that goes to the US form us has to go through customs, so by the time you pay duty and fees it would end up costing more then you could pick it up localy for, and you would have warranty. 94

i have not really usefull opinion, but, i just bought a 47 on bay for 150 bucks, i haven't gotten it, but as soon as i do i will let you know.
One thing that made me go for the 47 and not the next model up is that i try to get away from motorized faceplates.
I have hear lots of horror stories and i simply don't see them that "cool"

just my $.02

EDIT: forgot i got this thread of the archives, sorry.
