Default Cooling Question...(new radiator)

I have a 92 Si with a B18b. I was having overheating issues and realized my stock D16z6 radiator was leaking so i just changed it out to a dual core del sol radiator. I used the bleeder screw to bleed air out the top and have had to refill the overflow a few times now. Question is, after driving for about 10 min the temp skyrockets but if i have the heat all the way hot and the blower on the 1 setting the temp goes back down to just below halfway. I'm not familiar with how the heater and such works, but what i'm wanting to know is "is this a thermostat problem or do i still have an air bubble somewhere in there?" Do i just need to let the engine run w/o the radiator cap and wait? I just want to be sure before i buy something that is not broke, thanks!

Let's bleed the system to fully assure ourselves that there are no air bubbles.

Take off radiator cap
Seat heat to full blast
Turn car on
Let it idle for a good 15-20min
Watch as the air bubbles escape out the open radiator
Fill with additional coolant/water as necessary

This should stop your problem

will do! What are symptoms of a bad thermostat? Also, when you say set heat to full blast , do you mean the temp and turn the blower to full blast? Or it may not even matter

When the car reaches normal temperature, feel the lower radiator hose. It should be hot. If it's not, something is wrong.

Heat = hot and full blast.

well, i did get quite a few bubbles out of there. I topped off the radiator and took it for another ride for about 15 min. At idle, the temp needle still sticks around 3/4. Occasionally it will go at half but then will go back up to 3/4. Radiator fan occasionally comes on also. The top radiator hose is hot to where i cant keep a finger on it, the bottom is just warm?!! I'm starting to think it can only be a thermostat problem now. Any suggestions??

Change the thermostat and re-bleed the system.

aight now, looking on Autozone.com for prices i noticed there are thermostats that are low temp (170 degree), med temp (180 degree) and high temp (192 degree), is there a certian one i should get? Also some say that they are designed to LOCK open at 280 degrees to provide maximum cooling, would this be something i would want or should i not bother the extra $5? thanks, first time changing thermostat in case you haven noticed

I dont know the answer but have the same problem with my ITR swap . With the heat on its 3clicks from middle with it off it 1 click below middle or slightly higher but no flucuation during driving, just when heat is on, I am gonna check the lower hose temp.
I do run a spoon thermostat so maybe this is normal????
