My friend said specs show that the Skunk2 is a little more aggressive than the CTR cams, but only a negligible amount.
Better? As in what sense? Knowing the stage 1 cams have a longer duration? Spending less for the same amount of power? Better build?
Obviously, the CTR cams are the better choice because they are cheaper, offer better build quality, and give about the same amount of power.

couldnt tell the diff, wish i hadnt spent the money on cams at all much less on the skunk2's
thats about 1000 bucks i will never see again
(that was also in like 2000-2001) lil bit cheaper today

I'd say go with CTR. Honda makes good ****. I have a video of some group of guys with B18C EK's (Ground Zero Racing or something) and in one video at a track it said one dude was running Toda Spec B cams, and he ended up with a crappier time (not drastically) than when he had his ITR cams in it.
dude, best bang for the buck would be some ctr's. Can't go wrong with them if you are running a internally stock motor. Now, if you were built and running higher compression on the other hand, i would say go with some aftermarket more agressive cams.

CTR cams
aftermarket cams will more than likely make more power. the people who "made less power" dont know how to tune the engine and since type r cams are so mild, they crank up the fuel pressure 3 psi and its "tuned", but with a larger aftermarket it takes more tuning to get more power.
look at the specs and compare. generally, a cam with a larger lift and longer duration WILL make more power NA up to a certain point.

I agree with the CTR cams being the cest bang for the buck. You don't even need any tuning to make some extra ponies for street driving. Also, Although Skunk2 came are made of chilled iron, they are Made In Taiwan. If your planning not to do much tuning, get the CTR/ITR cams compared to the any stage ONE aftermarket cam. Only difference betwwen ITR & CTR is the intake cam. (but not much at all). Can't go wrong with OEM quality. But max hp can only reach around 200 hp at the wheels when fully tuned with bolt on's. At least I've never seen over 200 hp on stock CTR/ITR cams. Most I've seen was 198hp. (ITR, Hondata,Hytech, & Spoon stuff)
Make sure if you go above 8200, you replace the lma's also.

Because the ITR and CTR exhaust are the same, or vice versa. But the ctr's intake cam is better. It could be the other way around though. But thats basically why.
