Default Icebox and K&N E-2427

Hey guys im gonna be getting a comptech icebox, just the icebox, no filter or pipe.
I plan on using the pipe off my aem intake and just picking up a k&n e-2427 filter and using that inside the box, Will it fit fine and work well or should i go for the comptech filter? What other k&n filter will fit in the icebox with minimal rigging? Thanks alot

I have the Icebox with K&N E-2427... In my opinion, the K&N filters better than the Comptech filter, with no noticable difference in power. As far as the fit, E-2427 fits better in the Icebox than my modified RU-2710/stock elbow combo ever did. If you are getting the Icebox, you can't go wrong with E-2427.

I can get sorta a good deal on the filter, do you think it is worth it then. Will the comptech filter fit if i cut my aem intake and use that as the pipe form the tb. Thanks bob.

Yes, it is worth it. No, I don't think either filter will work if you cut the AEM short ram style... The angle isn't quite right, plus the stock intake elbow won't absorb heat as much as an aftermarket metal intake.

The stock filter needs to be modified(the tip has be cut off) to fit the comptech ice box.

I just installed the "Icebox' and used the stock filter. It fit great, only had to take out rubber gromet that tip on the end fits in. Need to clean my Comptech foamie!

I think im just gonna get the Comptech filter. But i thought i can just cut my aem and use the k&n e-2427 cuz it already has the angled peice on the filter already and it would all line up. I really dont wanna run my stock intake pipe, i dont even knwo where it is. I guess i will start searching for a comptech peice now. Thanks for all the help guys.

How much does the Icebox go for alone w/o filter or tube?
