Default JDM B16a SMOG legal?

Well, I was looking at the jdm b16' and I know that they arent smog legal here in california. What would I have to change on the motor to make it smog legal for california emissions? Thanks for any help.

all this has been posted around here, heck i'm sure i've posted this information on here before.....

Just to clarify a bit: you'll need to add all the USDM smog equipment to the JDM motor. It's quite easy and can be done with commonly available parts.

This includes (for SIR-II motors going into EG's):
- USDM p30 ECU (OBD1)
- Nipple fitting tapped on the back of the manifold for the Evap Purge solenoid (NOT THE PCV as stated above, jdm motors already run PCV) OR a USDM intake manifold (USDM IT-R or Skunk2 will work also as they look almost identical to the obd1 usdm b16a unit)
- USDM b-series throttle body with the fitting for the charcoal canister.

Thank you.

So when I put all of this smog stuff back onto the jdm motor is it really worth it for me to choose the jdm over the usdm engine. Like will the smog things I have to put on the jdm just make it run like a usdm b16, or will I still notice the difference between engines.? granted 10hp isnt much. but every bit counts.

it is said that JDM motors have SLIGHTLY higher compression ratios than USDM engines therefore the 10 extra hp. I'd say it's not worth it to live another day pollution free
