Default Higher elevation = slower car true? or not?

I moved to massachusettes and and drive my eg with b20vtec, it seems like my car has loss power?

the vtec seems weak and the car seems much heavier. is this really true about elevation?

can it be the elevation that is making the car feel weaker?

Where'd you move from? Central MA isn't at any type of elevation to cause a noticeable drop in power from most places.

But it is true about elevation. Thinner air, less fuel to burn in same volume of air.

Yeah, I don't think central mass is at any elevation to make a difference, but my brother, who lives in Denver and has a WRX, was blown away by the speed of my old corolla FX16 (with 3 people in the car) when he came to visit me in NC.

No. Carburetors do have to be adjusted to run properly at higher elevations, but the thin air at extremely high elevations will make even Fuel Injected cars much slower. Just like cars will be faster in death valley. Think of it like reversed forced induction. At higher altitudes, the air doesn't have as much pressure (think psi) and you can't get as much air in the engine. It isn't much of a difference but probably enough to take away a good chunk of horswepower compared to sea level.

Yeah, Colorado is certainly one of the places where elevation would have an effect.

the higher the altitude the less dense the oxygen. Less oxygen in the cylinder = less power.

Haha I enjoy it when I see a b16a swap with bolt ons run 16 second quarter miles up here... it's lovely.

I think he meant Force induced rather than fuel injected... but hey.
