Default Best Security System for a Type R

I'm sure this topic might have been covered before, but I was wondering if there was any system or a combination of systems that when utilized, will prevent the car from being stolen.

I have a garage at home, but I am just nervous when driving it to malls and etc because I had a friend that got his car stolen while he was shopping. And it wasn't even a Type R.

It is hard to believe that a security company out where wouldn't be up to the challenge. Anyways appreciate the input and enjoy your day.

When they are all sleeping it doesn't make a difference man, your car will be gone in like 30 sec.

You haven't figured out that other officers watch out for each other...and they don't all work 8-5.

That said - some dumbarse will probably try. It's just a car. Let's see how long they can drive around undetected with the numbers & other sponsor stickers on it

Being that my brother is a cop i think i know a few things about law enforcement, and most cops don't drive their cars home, so how would a theif even know thats a cops house. Most cops don't want people to know where they live so they aren't going to advertise.

buy a nice clifford alarm, hide a fuel pump cutoff switch somewhere (do something very descreet and don't tell anyone)
maybe lojack or something, and just be cautious of where you park it

thats about all you can do. oh, and don't let shady-*** people know where you live

nothing will keep your car from being stolen. you can only slow them down.

1st off you need to do a search by typing "stolen" in the search box, read everyones post.

now here comes the important part.... realize if you own a hot car like a type r, you need to keep it in the garage, you need to take it out only if you can be feets from it all the time, you go out with it with a group of friends, and you have the proper LAYERED security, and even a lojack type of system.

if you cant say yes to all these things, your car will get stolen when you least expect it<<<<this is key point in stolen posts if you bothered to read them later.

and common sense would also tell you, you dont take any prized car to the mall, movies, school, hospital, etc

why? because its a given you will be in these locations for a certain period of time.

and time is all a good thief needs to accomplish the task.

Hmmm.

To Booker the Dumbass,

How da **** do you know I haven't searched?

Was checking if any new solutions might have been out since the last I have checked. The thing they call "technology" evolves every year.

I ahve clifford concept 60 on my ek and i know a few alarm guys that say it will take a good thief roughly 30 minutes to bypass that i would recommend a motion activated camera that you can somehow hook to a pager and also this

This is one thing i never really cared about when i had my car. If someone wants it bad enough they will get it by any measure. I never lost sleep over what would happen to my car. It was daily driven and went anyplace.

That's why they have car insurance. If it gets stolen you get money and buy another.

really? i doubt that.... it only takes one removal of a fuse to disable any and all alarm systems.... i wont go into detail as to which fuse but alarm installers know what im talking about.

Thanks for your constructive contribution.

Powerlock sounds interesting. I will definitely look into it. Maybe install a club, powerlock, and a viper alarm. A combination of these 3 I wonder if it would be sufficient enough to secure a car for say a 4 hour period.

I think that is about the maximum time you will park a car somewhere say you went to the movie theatre to see a movie and have dinner afterwards.

What do you guys think?

depending on policy and company.. most only cover oem parts.... my 92 si hatch. its only worth about 3,500 but all my aftermarket rare parts cost almost double what my cars worth. so most will loose money in the end..... but different policy's and companys pay out differently. i wouldnt rely on any insurance company to keep my smiling after a theft pay out. because some parts are just made anymore.

best security is to sell the car. that way, once it's been sold, it cant be stolen from you.

Just ordered the powerlock.

Got the viper alarm, got the club, and with the powerlock if they can still steal it, then I got to give it to them.

Still going to drive the Type R around where ever I please, because the dam car is meant to be enjoyed and driven.

If they can still take it, I give them thumbs up and they have earned it. I'll let you know guys know if the car ever gets stolen, but the powerlock looks to be a very good system and at least I'm doing the best that I can to prevent them.

Anybody have this system installed on their cars?

IMO there's no such thing as "best securty system" if they want your car badly enough.. they will take it no matter what.

even if u have GPS thing to track your car.. they have those cover to cover up the car and you cant track it anymore..

even if you have fule kill switch or whatever you can think of.... they can just tow it.. and u cant do anything about it.

sad

They haven't earned ****. You worked to buy the caR and they just come and take her away, that doesn't seem like they earned it to me.

yeah man your a ******* moron to think if a theif was able to steal your car they earned it. the only thing they earned and deserve is a 45 caliber baby eagle to their dome. pull the trigger once. I think i've and everyone else here has earned their R by paying for it and treating it like it was their 1st born child
