Hi, some chick is trying to sell me her '94 prelude and says it's packing a 2.3l vtec. i did a little research on australian domestic market preludes only to be told that only the 2.2l h22a came with vtec technology. she swears its not an import but does the us, jap or european version come with a 2.3l vtec?

 

There was never any Prelude that came with a 2.3 Vtec engine. the 4th generation of prelude (92-96) had a single cam 2.2 nonvtec, and 2.3dual cam nonvtec, and a 2.2 dual cam Vtec.

There is a 2.3Vtec engine that came out of a euro R accord, IIRC.

and there is the slim chance that its a 2.3block with the h22 head on it. very doubtful.

The JDM wagons also comes with vtec 2.3. From what I understand its basicly the same motor and only makes little hp. Its possible that she has a vtec 2.3. Don't think its stock thought. If it is stock then its a import from a very small market. Honda has done some strange thing in some small contries.

 

Yes there is a 2.3L VTEC engine, but only came with an auto tranny.

same here, but mine's in an accord. and they only come from japan and it says H23A

she's probably just got a 2.3 Si, which isn't a bad car.

 

The 2.3 liter vtec engine comes out of the sir accord wagon in japan with an auto tranny. The people above bought it from a site that sells it with a manual tranny most likely. It's doubtful this girl is talking about this engine. As everyone else says, the girl probably doesn't know what she's talking about.

 

So how much hp/torque did these euro and JDM engines make?

thanks for the help guys/girls. After further discussion with the seller, she sent me some pics. the lack of Vtec on the tappet cover was a dead giveaway. turns out it's an ADM 2.3l Si with gold (H) badges and was sold to her 'as a vtec'. poor girl. wont be pawning it off to me.
