Default EF to EG suspension conversion

I was talking with my friend today that has a 92 teg and he says that I can buy 92-95 struts for my 90 crx si so long as I have the suspension forks from the 92-95 civic.

Is this true and if so what should I be looking at for cost?

Also for the rears I am told that I need a lower control arm from a 92-95 civic.

Will any beefier 94+ teg parts bolt up to an EF chassis to give me better suspension/strut choices?
Thanks

I have 92-95 suspension all the way around in my 91 CRX.
eg Koni Yellows on the low perch
eg Megan racing LCA
eg Front forks
EF Progress springs 2" all around

You do need EG front forks. The seat for the shock is larger than the EF. This will allow you to run EG shocks.
As for the rear I have aftermarket LCA's. Got a good deal I would use oem too though. All new bushings.

I got my front forks used for about $20 Cdn

Here is a big *** pick to see the drop:

that's good news to hear. I will look into finding the front EG forks.

Is it ONLY the forks that i need from and EG to do the front struts?

Does the fork need to come from a EG si model or can it be any EG series civic?

Thanks

Only the forks are needed. I was going to use ef rear LCA's but I got a deal on the Megan ones. You can use forks from any eg. I like the setup.
Its an authentic special edition I bought it off of an old lady last year she was the second owner had it since 92!!! Rustproofing was done every year on the car w/ receipts to proove it too!

I remember like 1 or 2 or 3 year ago people were talking about this a lot. And I seem to remember people saying that the forks were about an inch longer than the EF forks, thus making your car an inch taller in the front. Either that, or having to lower the front that much more to compensate.

Is this why your crx looks higher in the front than it does in the back?

Yup..I believe it is true. I have since fixed the problem by trimming the front bump stop ever so slightly!

ps that really annoyed me at first!

With so many EF suspension parts already available, what's the benefit of switching to EG parts?

only thing hes going to use from an EG is the Front Dampening forks, witch let you use EG shocks. and for the Rear LCA for EG shocks as well.

EG=HELLA aftermarket support=Cheaper.

Nothing, really. You lose shock travel by switching to '92-95 dampers - this is a very bad thing.

EG suspension setups are not cheaper.

On my EF i have EG Omnipower full coilovers, with the bottom brakets machined to fit the EF fork (which is like an 1/8" less in diameter and the EG one). No Problems yet

I did not notice that the front forks on the EG/DC were taller than the ED/EF fork, but I did notice that the standard EG/DC shocks are about an inch taller than the ED/EF ones, so you will lose shock travel unless you get a shorter shock.

the EG fork is all you need. it is the SAME dimensions as the EF fork, NOT TALLER, just a bigger diameter to accomodate the bigger shock. the shock itself is bigger.

but i do agree, that there is more support, meaning more products, available for EG chassis than EF. shocks is one of the few things that can be interchangeable, especially if the aftermarket unit is made to be shorter for more shock travel.

good link with pics.
