vtec coming late in first gear??? WTF
b16a in a crx and vtec wont come in first gear until 7200 rpms... rest of the gears its fine.. ve a pr3 ecu.. and the motor is bone stock....
things checked..
1. oil pressure is good
2. vtec solenoid good
3. wiring - 3x checked
4. compression 180 approx in all fours
5. vss is good
6. tried another pr3.. still the same
any help wud be much appreciated..

depends on your tire size. if your tires are smaller than stock on that car or possibly if you're using the wrong VSS it may be seeing the wrong speed.

am using a honda vss and ive tried replacing the vss too..... in first gear when the vtec kicks in @ 7200 i end up getting **** loads of wheel spin.. had there been NO vtec in first at all it wud take ages to climb upto 8000 rpms
i did an auto to stick swap and before with the auto tranny it was all good...i also changed the cylinder head with a manual tranny b16a cuz of the cam specs..the auto ones being less aggressive with a wider LSA.

Then it wouldn't consistently happen in 1st gear only. I'm with the others that say the speed sensor is sending things to the ECU wrong. Check the speed sensor (there should be a test in the FSM). Also, what speed are you going at 7200rpm in 1st?
