Default [pic] transmission leak :(

hello HT

I've noticed that there were drips of oil from under my car, so i drove my civic up a ramp and snapped some pictures, hopefully i can get some guidance as to what to do... sorry for the big size, i resized them a little, but i didnt want them too small that you couldnt see

is this something DIY-able? my oil pan is leaking also, are the materials relatively cheap to fix this problem?

thanks

ek

It's kind of hard to see exactly where it's leaking from.

In order to fix it properly you need to know exactly where the leak is coming from, that way you don't waste your time fixing something that might not be the issue.

Wipe all that fluid off of there until it's clean, then drive it for a bit and check to see where it's coming from.

My tranny leaked one time between the axle and the housing because I hadn't pushed the axle in far enough when I installed my clutch. All I had to do was tap it all the way in and it stopped leaking. You could have the same problem but it's hard to tell.

Looks like an axle seal to me, if you can get any better pics it would help after youve cleaned everything. Took me a sec and I saw atf, which is a change from everyone driving manual trans on here.

Pan gasket should cost give or take 20 bucks and the seal around 8 (shootin from the hip)

Install's fairly simple as well.

Looks like your axle seal is leaking to me. I seem them all day long up at work. Pull the axle and then use a seal puller or a pic to pop the old seal out. Put a new seal in and then you'll be good to go, real easy should only take 30 minutes to do.

I bought those axle gaskets from honda, 10 bucks each.
They're a must if yours are bent or the spring in the them is missing

Look under auto/manual transmission section. They show it under axle replacement. If you know how to remove the axle, all you have to do it take a flathead screwdriver and pop the seal out, and then replace it.
