Default Pic Request: How did you mount your iPod in your '92-'95 Civic?

I will need to control the iPod, this means that it needs to be easily accessable by the driver. This also rules out the glovebox.

I have considered products like the ProClip but I am not too keen on spending $25 to mount the iPod. I have found a couple low cost alternatives on eBay, but even if I were to buy one, I am not sure where I would want to mount it.

I have also considered letting it hang out in the ash tray, and just pulling it out when I need to change songs, etc... but this seems like it might be kind of inconvenient.

Any pics or suggestions?

NOTE: I am not asking how to hook up the iPod. Just how to mount it.

optional console and/or armrest? they look nice, and its somewhere to put your ipod

hm maybe you can get one of those "type R" cupholders that are like $3, and put it in there.

whats wrong with just leaving it on your lap, or on the passenger seat? ashtray works too if it fits, and is clean.

I wish I had an optional console or armreset, but I don't... And I am not looking to spend that type of money.

Don't those "Type-R" cupholders clip onto the vents? I have seen some iPod mounts on eBay which attach the vents in a similar fashion, but I would kind of like to avoid doing that.

As for my lap/passenger seat, I am worried about it flying around in emercency braking situations... Or when accelerating quickly to make a left turn in traffic.

I know, I'm picky.

my room mate has his ipod on the passenger floor of his car. don't worry about emergency braking and turning. the ipod will settle into a little nook it likes on the floor and stay there.

if your dead set on mounting it somewhere...why don't you make a mount for it out of a peice of aluminum or something like that. that would look hot.

it seems like the ashtray would allow it to fly around more then sitting in your lap. (during emergency braking situations)

i dont know if you have it hooked up to your headunit with a cable or not, but if not, just put it half way under your leg, it will hold it snug. its what i do with my sidekick, so its not flying around everywhere

my Si has a double wide slot, the top slot is where the deck goes and there is a little drawer there. just throw it in there.

you can also leave it in the cupholder..

anyone have any good mounting locations for an EG hatch? The pop-up cup holders are a little too small and flimsley for the cup holder style mounts.. but I was thinking about somewhere near the gear shift. post pics if possible!

I like that! Is it stable enough to change the songs while driving? how much was it, got a link to the ebay seller?

Yep...definitley stable. It ratchets in three different directions and the cradle can be taken off the mount really easily too. I'll try to find a link to the seller...

not the same seller, but same exact thing that I bought:
