Parking brake failure
true that the car jerks when in gear, but it still helps the e-break so that so much pressure isnt JUST on the breaks, the only think i could think of is the cable loosened drastically as it was parked, tighten the cable again if you already think its tight.

I've seen a car rolling down a hill in gear....it would jerk every compression stroke. Thats why they say to use your parking brake.
My cable is fine, back pads are fine. I'm thinking I got it on top of a tooth at the handbrake.</TD></TR></TABLE>
If the car is facing downhill, put it in reverse, if the backend is facing downhill put it into first. I have always done this and I have never had any cars move.
Anyways, have you checked for a broken cable?

actually, if the front is facing downhill you put it into first, if the back is facing downhill you put it into reverse.
do it the other way you will roll

My hatch tried to run away the other day too....ran outside when i heard the alarm go off only to find her nearly in the middle of the street. Thank god my nearly drunk neighbor was outside having a cigarette. At first i thought he was trying to pull some kind of stupid jack move seeing that he had his beer still in hand. I'm often forgetful of putting car in gear when parked on a grade.

That's because it was in the wrong gear. If you park uphill, put it in first. If you park downhill, put it in reverse. Don't even try to tell me a car in reverse rolled forward dow a hill.
Adjust your parking brake cable, and check the parking brake assembly behind the rear rotors to be sure that it is still in tact and not worn too terribly.

How do you clutch start a car? Push FORWARD and pop the clutch in first or second. (A FORWARD gear). Or push backward, and pop clutch in REVERSE. Either one will roll in gear. You put it into gear opposite the direction it is facing.
Thumbs up
to all that caught that one.
