DTR or SMS header?
I have a b18c5 and I need a header. Who's header show's a better performance gain and is higher quality? (if there is any discernable difference)
you know, sorry to vent, but i can't believe....and im gonna sound like an ******* to say that why do ppl who a car....meaning a car that they look for "performance", can even think of asking just a superficial question, like "which header is the best, SMS or DTR???"
And i can't stand the damn dyno graphs anyone. Why do ppl think the best dyno numbers are gonna give you the best ET's. That sounds pretty retarded if you ask me.... I know those numbers sell, but why be a fake and ask ppl what they are looking for????? duhhhh????
Just for the responses and because i like domestics too....
im gonna say RMF. Even though im making my 4-1 offset into a 4-2-1 because it's most economical for me at this point and with the way it's constructed, i would still do a 4-1. Instead of flaunting your ****, why don't flaunt your knowledge at least and have us pay for it....makes sense.....no...?
I still can't get over this thread.....

WTF does your little private header shoot out have to do with DTR and smsp?
Anybody can win their own shoot out.

Thanks to those of you who replied and stayed on topic. This will at least help my choice. Jersey, not to get you pissed or anything this is a serious question, but are you saying that hp and trq don't matter as to how fast you car does the 1/4 in? Because I would assume for an all-motor CRX with a b18c5 the better the header the better the performance since header choices are more important with all-motor as I'm sure you know. But I also asked about quality which I believe every one who does a little tuning cares about the quality of there parts. Anyways this is just what and think and what I'm seriously asking you so please don't hold back to correct me if I'm wrong.

Plus a correction. It wasn't my test. DonF did the test with the Mike and John who did the Tunerzine test. I wasn't there. If you are calling Don's test a fix, then was the Tunerzine test a fix also?

no disrespect to you, but yeah you have the right idea, i should have actually wrote for you to research on what type of tq curve your looking for, for the type of car your using and for what purpose.

no one bring my name into this, nothing was fixed or made up.
To the guy that started this thread
RMF
SMSP
DTR
HYTECH
all make a great product. things like Camshafts, bore/stroke, compression will determine what header to use. I have always said this, RMF won MY HEADER TEST, that does not mean he is the BEST. just like SMSP won a test that was at DFE, that does NOT MEAN SMSP IS THE BEST. it means they were the best at that time, on that dyno on that particular motor.
I have seen all these guys make power on multiple dynos. I have seen RMF destroy Competch, and beat out others. I Have scene SMSP destroy other TOP header manufacturers.
I hate to see everyone get in a fight that we cannot prove. there is no BEST in this business, if there was, then there wouldnt be a need for the rest, and everyone would own "insert company name here".
Be loyal and true to who you like and support. thats all i can say
IMO since you have an EF chassis, i would look at SMSP and RMF, both have excellent power numbers and ground clearance. i have not seen a DTR but it looks like it will hang low
Other things to take into account:
SMSP $640ish shipped with Donut gasket, 2 bolt Flange, UN COATED MILD STEEL
RMF $700ish shipped NO GASKET, 3 BOLT FLANGE, COATED (jet)
there are alot of difference you need to look at. RMF and SMSP make multiple style headers. custom made, or off the shelf

Who is RMF? I have heard the abbreviation before but not the full name. But all of you make a good point I didn't start this thread out right. I should have gone into detail and not just said "best" because like VtecKiDD said if there was a "best" then there would be no rest. But once I get everything running I will most likely contact both companies and see who can do the most for me for what I want. If it means an extra couple hundreds bucks for better performance I think I can settle for that. A few extra weeks at work to wait and get it will be worth it. But thanks again to all of you guys for the input and help.

in the most polite tone, exactly my point...maybe alittle research woulda helped you out before making the thread, you know.

it's obvious members are just yelling out the header to go with. HT is an amazing resource, but the benchracing, and usual bias comments are ridiculous. And you got ppl calling fabricators a cry baby?
Prove it on the track, not on the dyno if your not a bench racer. So who's 4-1 or 4-2-1 is running the quickest ETs? that would be nice to know. Instead of bias members chiming in, how about the headers builders tell us who's running the quickest ETs with their header. i mean..there are so many biters in this industry, what's the difference....

Well I just asked because I have heard of RMF but never there full name. I just can't google RMF. I figured forums where a place to research and get ideas. And as far as your quickest ETs times unless they have the same exact cars with the same set ups what will that prove? If you just ask some who uses and Integra and someone with a Civic which header performs better on the track, what will that prove? There are way to many variables to just ask ETs.
