intermediate shaft play question
So, lately when i have gone over bumps, I hear a loud clank sound, and i knew it was something down there.
I check out my drivers side axle and cv joint and where it connects to the intermediate shaft bearing. This is the only obvious problem I could see.
The problem is that the bearing is obviously bad on the intermediate shaft (so i know i will have to replace the intermediate shaft) But since there is about half a cm of play up and down on the bearing, does this mean I will need a brand new axle as well? Should i just replace both things or do you think just the intermediate shaft?

Ill bump you up too. Ive redone all my suspension front and rear and have a clunky/click sound too. Does it only do it going really slow (like only in first gear or slower) and when turning (like backing out of a spot). Id like to know too cause everythings been replaced including boots and inner and outer tie rods on the rack. Im starting to think thats the only thing left that I havent touched(axle is only 3mo.s old too). bump-"bump bump thats the sound of the 15s in my trunk" KMK
Yea, a bad axle will make that sound when going really slow or if you just put in reverse/first. It was actually my axle, not my inter shaft.
