Default My car sounds like its riding on rims

My 98 LS howling road noise is unbearable, I bought new front wheel bearings assuming thats what it is, Anyhow here is the Q.

Supposedly my mechanic says ABS tegs you have to replace the whole hub,
Anyone do the bearings on a 98 LS ABS? I think its the same as the GSR even

So Can I just replace the wheel bearings or do I have to buy a whole hub?
The bearings cost me 130 bucks for the front set

I don't know why he told you to replace the hub...??? I replaced the Driver side bearing on my 99 Ls and just threw everything else back on. No probs here and its been 9 months.

sometimes replacing the hub is alot eaiser then taking it apart and putting a new bearing in... to check if this is evne the proble when your car is parked go to the wheel that is making the noise and try to turn it side to side with your hands like wiggle it, if you can mvoe it like that then it's your bearing.

Ya it doesnt wobble but when I drive it HOWLS and if I turn left hard, it gets loud and vibrations start
Minor vibrations but Its just awfull

How Do I get to the bearing If I can see it I can tell if its bad or not>
Do I pull the screws out or what?

Ya I have crappy tires, I just lifted it and listened to each front wheel and its def the passenger side front bearing How do I take it out? I took off the wheel and bent the saftey intention out but I cant get that huge *** nut to budge? do I have to unscrew the screws first or take off the brake calipers?

Nope, you can take off the axle nut without taking off those screws or the brake calipers. If you don't have access to air tools, you can take off the center caps of your wheels, put the wheels back on, and try breaking it off while the car is on the ground. Use a cheater bar if you need to.

sounds like it is defenitly the bearing making the noise . you have all the symptoms. im sure he told you to get the whole hub because it is alot easier to just replace it than to pry the bearing race off of it.
