Default ecu

iight i got a 96 jdm b16a2 in a 96 civic hb dx, to pass the emissions i need to change the jdm ecu to a us spec, now does it matter what kind of us spec ecu i use or does it have to be from a certian car like a 00 civic SI or 96 acura?

Default Re: ecu (gsrHB)

It depends if your motor is jdm, or if it is a B16a2. the a2 is USDM, while the B16a is JDM. I don't know anythin about emissions since I live in Michigan, but why would a USDM/JDM motor make a difference? The should have the same fuel map and emissions. If you do need a computer, then a USDM p30 (B16a2, '99-00 Civic Si) ecu will suffice.
