so. my head gasket was pretty much leaking coolant all year last year. i knew this(hmmm where could that coolant be going?)....but hey...i only ran 5 events. I replaced the gasket on Wednesday/Friday. Car went up to NYC Saturday to DRT. ok...the news....

bad=after the first 2 passes the car lost a good 10hp per run. she is no longer sealing.

good news #1. i apparently was running without vtec all year last year. so i ran 12.54 @ 108.99mph without vtec. i sold my vafc since i only needed an msd rpm activation switch. First dyno pass this past Saturday was 196hp with 153ft lbs. after a bit of investigation....it was found out that i had the relay wired improperly and vtec wasn't activating. i did that last year at the beggining of the year. duh.

good news number 2 is....second pass was 246hp with 165+ ft lbs untuned. The rest you already know.

i'm pissed, broke, and happy all at the same time.

i'll be pulling it apart asap

its a bright future but a sucky present

so you didnt tune it at all? just baselined then rolled off the Dyno.

 

 

that was a baseline run. intake cam still set at zero etc. it just started loosing power as the gasket got worse(didn't know what was up so didn't want to change anything. that baseline run blew white smoke. there is more power to be made for sure. i'm more exited about whats gonna happen at the track

turbo tech sheet finally reached me 2/4/02 and i sent the 8page sheet filled out on 2/5/02. i heard May but we'll see

Well Jeff,

This makes complete sense. When you and Ben(J-spec) were neck and neck at MIR I knew something had to be wrong. He was only putting down 190 and 130. I am very happy to here that you have figured it out. I can't wait to see you run this year! Hopefully I will be right a long side of you in my CRX.

yeah....i knew all year it didn't add up...but there were other issues so i wrote it off to OH WELL. I'm sure it'll be competitive this year. see you at the track for sure
