projector kits for hid's
ive been looking around, didnt find anyone on ht or internet(as far as i know). could anyone direct me where i can buy projectors to fit my 2000 civic si. i bought the car it already had the hid conversions done to it but i just read the thread about the hid's and im curious where i can get something to make the light more neat.
i mean to get rid of the glare on the headlights, if someone could just tell me what im looking for and where to get it i would appreciate it.
you mean you want to retrofit your headlights with HIDs?
if so, i hope you're ready to put some hrs into getting it done...

So youve already got an HID kit, but the light glares all over hell-- I know cause I have the same problem. I looked into doing a retrofit, figuring that the projectors wouldnt cost that much and I could just use my aftermarket HID kit and bulbs. Well, after talking to the guys at HIDplanet.com I figured out that I couldnt use my ballasts or bulbs, because the plugs are different and the bulbs dont mount in the projector base. So I gave up because I dont have the money for new ballasts and bulbs, which have to come from a car that came with them stock. Unless your HID's are from another car, you will have to pretty much buy different ballasts and bulbs that mount in the projectors, and then retrofit the projectors in your lights, but it will be worth it!
Question--- Does anyone know what bulbs S2000's use in thier projectors, cause if they are H4's then I dont see why you wouldnt be able to retrofit S2K projectors and use your aftermarket HID kit, cause Civics use H4 bases?? Then you wouldnt have to get new ballasts and bulbs, and you could do a retrofit with your HID's you already have.

he never said he had a retrofit done... so i assumed he is using a re-based HID kit.
s2000's HID use d2s bulbs (i'm pretty sure)...
as for using ballasts from a re-based kit to do a retrofit... that's what i did... (look in my sig)

im not sure what or how it was done but they r there now and i would like to clean up the light so people aren't flashing their high beams at me all the time. is there something i can look for on the ballast or something to maybe help you guys answer my question lemme know ill get outside wit my digital.
I'm assuming you have just an H4 HID kit. For the time being, you can reduce glare by aiming your headlights down more.
Then you could go to HIDplanet.com and get a new kit that includes ballasts, bulbs, projectors, and do it yourself, or someone on there would be able to do it for you.
But you won't be able to use your aftermarket HID 'kit' in anything that is OEM, so it's best to do an entire retrofit.

What are those little things called that go under the bulbs-- casper shields, I think? Maybe you dont have those, but they usually come with the HID kits??? That could be the problem, cause I have them in mine and nobody ever flashes me with thier brights.

370+shipping for the kit, expect to pay around 120 if someone does the retrofit for you.
You probably have an eBay kit right now, like these

I had one, and they're OK in certain housings, but H4 doesnt do so well.

Do the "HID" you have just put a different bulb in the stock headlight or does your stock headlight have a projector in it?
My guess is you have the H4 HID piece of **** kit. As said, you can get casper shields but it will only do so much.
The problem is the CHROME halogen headlight is reflecting light everywhere.
You can:
Get casper shield, only does so much.
Paint chrome housing, will reduce light output too.
Or most expensive, ditch that setup and get REAL HID. This is expensive and tuff to do in a headlight that didn't have it already. You would need HID projectors, Ballasts, Ignitor and bulbs if the projectors don't have any. Also an upgraded light harness cause your OEM wiring will evenutally fail.
This link has almost every car that has HIDs. You need the parts from one of these vehicles.
