I’m helping a friend fix a problem with her 97 Civic LX. I’m not a Honda guy and don’t have access to a service manual so here I am. The dome light in the car does not come on when the doors are opened.. I have checked all the obvious problems… switch in the correct position, bulb is ok, switches on all 4 doors function, dome light switch itself works. I’m out of ideas. The light does work when the switch on the light is in the on position. Does anyone know what I should check next? Any wiring diagrams and wiring locations? I did a quick search for dome light and it didn’t come back with anything useful.

does it still have the chime when you open the door?

 

i'll bet ten to one odds that she changed the factory radio out and her keyless entry quit working too right?

Does Civic LX have keyless entry? If it does then yea if the head unit was replaced and is still not hooked up in the car somehow then the keyless entry and dome light will not work. If that is the case let me know and I can point you to some things to help you out. If its something different I got no clue.

 

Yea its all in changing the radio, same with mine, I have the same car. The person I bought mine from put in a 10 disc cd changer, and I think I found in the manual that if you change those it will screw with all of that stuff.

 

If you search, I know there is a way to get it to work. I know one was is to have the factory and aftermarket stereo hooked up, but I am sure that there are other ways as well. But yes

The door does chime when the key is in with the door open. The car also has an aftermarket CD player installed. It does not have an alarm system or keyless entry installed. The CD player is fairly new so now I have a sold lead on where else to poke around. Thanks for the suggestions
