I just got my first honda - 98 DX hatch. I thought I checked the body out pretty good but I missed seeing the drivers side of the hood was bent upwards a bit on the edge. It's about where the hood prop goes in. Is it normal for these cars to have the metal bent there due to the stress of the hood prop?

 

I guess its possible, someone leans hard enough on the front of the hood while its on the lower of the 2 holes for the prop it might bend it. A pic of the bend on your hood would be nice.

almost looks like someone left a screw driver , ect on the shock tower or inside fender area and closed it ,,, i would try to just push it flat again ... maybe adjust the rubber stop in the front all the way up and push on the bend go easy

 

ive always thought that to be common cause both of my civics have had that problem cause i wasnt aware of the second(bottom) hole and always used the top one. seemed like prolonged exposure might cause this over time and use and people pullin down on the hood. could also be that if the bracket for the washer fluid line moved or broke from the tower and the hood was closed down on that it could do that too. just work it and put a little pressure on it, but not too much.

 

What thats from is someone haveing the hood latch open and trying to push down the hood. I have the same problem.

 

yeah my hood is like that on my 93 coupe ,,it just over time of the hood being open on the first hole for the latch to sit in.

Thats why mine is like that Friend of mine left a socket on the fender and tried to close the hood

 

that comes from someones dumb friend sitting real hard on your hood

well possibly, my hood has a big *** shaped dent from this fat **** thinkin he cool slamming his *** on my hood.
