Default Other options to the T1R resonated test pipe

Well, the last thing I need to complete my "hybrid" exhaust system is a test pipe or high flow cat. The thing is that the whole time i was planning on picking up the T1R resonated test pipe from AJ-R, but when i called to order the T1R and my Spoon N1, they said it was backordered in Japan and that they were hoping to have them in by the end of september. well after having all these exhaust parts for so long, i want to get everything on, so what im asking is that does anybody know an alternative to the T1R resonated test pipe? You cant beat the price of the T1R and its resonated. I was going to just wait it out or hopefully buy one used, but havent had any luck the past few weeks.

So have any of you had any luck with something else that isn't as restricive as a cat without going full out test pipe? Thanks, and sorry for the novel

SMSP test pipe
Omni Test pipe

Nothing in between a test pipe or cat. It's one or the other.

well, i was just thinking, my exhaust is gonna be loud and i was planning on that, but i constantly hear on the site that test pipes like the ones you have mentioned are really raspy. The fact that the T1R was resonated i thought it would help a little bit.

teaser:

you can get resonated test pipes. wouldn't that be considered the in between of a test pipe and a cat?

thats is knida the basis of my question...

1.) wait it out and get the T1R when they are back in stock

2.) buy a test pipe

3.) or does anybody know of any other resonated test pipes besides the T1R?

I see them for sale on ebay for dirt cheap, but you're probly getting a piece of garbage. You could always get a testpipe made now for cheap by a local place (~ $50) and wait for the T1R resonated one to come in. Then you can sell the testpipe.

buy a cat from dave at SMSP. The resonated pipe simple muffles the raspyness of the sound you would have in a regular test pipe. Daves new cats flow as well as a test pipe and save the environment not to mention the stench you get at a stoplight without a cat...

I second that. I would either go with the SMSP or Carsound cat. I had a good experience in the past with a Carsound 2.5" cat mated to a JDM ITR 4-1 and 5Zigen Fireball.

I think the disadvantages to a testpipe outweigh the benefit of maybe 3-4 hp over a high-flowing cat.

I have a Spoon N1 axle back mated to a Apexi b -pipe and a 4-1 header and stock cat for now. Was wondering if a resinated test pipe with my setup would make it way to loud.

I had an Apexi N1 and loved the sound and look but hated how cops were about it just because it looked loud.

So far the Spoon is way deeper sounding and way subtle looking(to those that don't know what it is) and surprisingly just not loud enough up top!

It's beautiful at lower rpms but it turns to mostly motor noise at the vtec crossover.

Never had experience with a test pipe and would definetly want nothing other than a resonated one to avoid that raspiness. If anyone was ever in the same boat as me i would love the insight.

TIA
