4wd CIVIC EK???
OK, I'm sick of wasting my time googling through BS results...
Anyone know if this has been done before? I'm not seriously contemplating doing so, but I've been wondering lately what needs to be done (generally) to convert my 99 CIVIC EX Coupe into a 4wd vehicle. With the CR-V so similar component wise, I imagined it wouldn't be impossible...
So get yer mental juices flowin and let me know what you come up with!
Thanks!

--- if there are any links or other resources, please post! I couldn't find anything...

There is no AWD (not 4wd dude, thats for trucks) Civic in the US. There exists at least a EG AWD civic in Japan somewhere, but for some stupid reason its got a D series. it IS possible, but as far as bolting on with CRV parts, thats gonna be a no. It HAS been done with CRV parts though. I THINK theres a AWD civic 4 door n japan (96-00) with a D-series.
I do not know of the frame differences for clearences.
The AWD civic in japan uses the same realtime system that all Hondas use tho.
A better idea would be to hack apart some ****, get a K24 from a CRD, cut up the CVs and driveshaft and possibly get some Acura RL SH-AWD **** in there, although i heard it takes 3 computers for it, and do not know if those integrate to the RL's stock engine CPU or how you could alter the system to be independant without TCS, ABS, and EBD.

I'm fairly sure you'd have to recut the underside of the chasis to fit a driveshaft to go to the back. I think there is a thread somewhere about some guys who did this kind of project to a CRX.

I believe you are refering to the Civic Ferio.

Thanks for all the input. I'll re-google based on the info above and try to find more, as well as look up conversions for other Honda/Acura models.
Sorry about the AWD/4WD confusion...

There's an ITR on the east coast that has the CRV drive train. Saw him at a drift event. He just takes out the front drive shaft so he can drift, pretty sweet little car. It is possible.
the awd integra was a failed project and ended up as troubled rwd that was twitchy.

the CRV drivetrain and the 4 door zc powered awd civics and integras were all meant for slippery roads and not drag racing.
The talon/eclipse would be a prefered setup
