Default BUILT h22 turbo TUNING question????? need imput!!!

whats going on. im new here but not new to the scene. i have a built 97 h22 prelude that has stock comp. je coated pistons and eagle hb rods with stock sleeves. i just pieced together my own kit with a turbonetics t3/t4 turbo, drag gen 2 mani, 38mm tial, drag dp, f-max piping, and spearco intercooler.. my question is how much can or should i run on this setup knowing that the compression is STOCK and what is everybody else running ems wise and boost level??? thanks..

When you say BUILT, I was assuming you had your block sleeved.........

You won't be able to run that much boost you know. If you plan on boosting way up in the future - i say get the AEM EMS........otherwise, GReddy E-manage should do just fine.

Good job piecing together your kit by the way.How much did you spend total? I know a lot of people who just buy full kits off the interent and pay out the *** for it.

I would find a good Hondata tuner and run the hondata s200 system
with the p28 ecu.

There are some guys running up to 14lbs of boost safely on stock compression,
but that takes real good tuning.
I would advise against that if you want your motor to last.

I would run 8-10lbs of boost with good tuning on stock compression.

Hondata S200 with boost option and a P28 ECU will work fine... If you can find a GOOD tuner. Be conservative.

As for the picture above, that is block, that has had those "coated" Pistons in it, but i believe there has only one other member who has posted result of the pistons, His result were simular, but those problems can occur from other reasons i.e. improper clearance, & improper break-in. I personally have heard of ludes running 10 lbs of boost daily on those heads and have over 60k miles on the block

I want these pistons to work but i'm still waitng for more results, One guy burns up his engine with the pistons and every one is afraid to use them.

Keep us posted.

Does everyone recomend the p28? I was thinking of going p72 w/ S200 my 5th gen for my turbo setup plans. Any thoughts?

I ran 1bar on pump gas at 10:1 compression in a built h23....... woulda been fine, it was my fault it blew. I also agree that the "coated" JE pistons won't last, that coating is likely a thermal barrier coating and not a FRM safety coat.... you spent all that other money you shoulda just gotten sleeves....... for the setup u describe, no more than 8lbs with a decent tune.

and it wasn't one guy who had bad results, it was all of them... I'll agree there can be other contributing factors, but why be a cheap ***. You pay for forged psitons and rods and you're not going to use them up to their potential because you skimp out on one of the most important parts about turbo-ing a H-series motor....

You should be able to run 13 lbs of boost **** my engine has 150k miles on it never have been inside it and boost 13lbs daily no problems for 5000 miles now put on at 149k turbo kit that is has 155224 now

13.65@105.5 spinning 1st and 2nd

need new clutch now though stock one burned out in about well 5000 miles haha looking at action 2md think i might buy a quafie lsd and a lightend flywheel since ill have the transmission dropped
