91 wagon h22 swap or f22b?
Which has more potential being that the car will stay an automatic? My friend just swapped his wagon with a h22 and kept it automatic. He has more horse and torque but is the f22b jdm vtec worth the swap?
This looks vtec to me.

f22b1 is a vtec swap and will fit. If you plan on future turbo f22 is good choice unless you plan on resleeving.
I definately would go H22 as I have a 91 wagon LX DD as well and that is my dream engine (2 kids). I am just being realistic. With the right tweaking an H22 can be a dangerous weapon under an accord.
They both have benefits and disadvantages. IMO. It is truly a matter of personal preference Ahem. I mean money in the pockets of what you get.
As far as an automatic that is the first mistake. My wagon is 5 sp and that is the main reason I bought it. I mean the only reason. As I was looking for a wagon for about 4 years and happened to find a manny close to home for about 1000.00.

I know the F22B1 is Vtec.... he didn't state B1 in his first post.

The JDM F22B is a DOHC non-VTec.... same as the USDM H23

Ok but then that opens up a new can of worms for him. Stick with the H22 and you will be happy long term.
A lot of up front costs though. BUT

all i can say is i sure as hell woudlnt buy an engine from an importer that you can buy at any local junkyard with a wrranty, face to face transaction and real verified milage.
anyway i have a 92 accord lx wagon and have had an h22 in it for around 4 years now and i like it, it gets lsightlky lower mialge than it did stock (23-25 mpg now compared to 25-27 mpg before), but is a LOT more fun to drive.
if you really want the SOHC vtec hit up a salvage yard and pay $600 or less for one locally.

sorry I don't live in japan cannot get a jdm engine for that price. Once again let me state this is the JDM motor Vtec SOHC f22b1 Now the car is not mine I had a JDM h22a I sold my friend then as soon as I sold it another friend wanted one swapped into the same car a 1991 accord wagon auto. Now I missed the last h22a I could have bought so I was looking at the option of the f22b1 just wanted some input if that swap is worth the money.
