Default Is this a pretty good run??

This is the fastest Ive gone yet. Im runnin 14lbs of boost puttin down 293whp (on a really hot day) This was my third pass,..on the fourth I snapped an axle. Each time my run was getting better. If it hadnt been for my charge pipe popping off, I tink I couldve done a 12.5 but we I wont know untill I get that problem fixed i guess. So is it a good time or am I still slow?? Still new to the drag racing thing. Oh yeah, I was running radials

not bad, get a better launch and work on that 60ft and you should be able to take who-ever you were racing next time

T-bolt clamps will cure that boost pipe issue very well.

I haed the same problem in my other car, so i replaced every hose clamp in the charge system with T-bolt clamps. I found an ebay auction that was like 10 for 40 bucks or something...

beat him on the whole shot. Good looking run. You snap the axle on the launch, or while you were running? You preload the clutch and drivetrain at all on the line?

You had a much better R/T but he killed you early on and held the lead throughout the run. It's a very nice time for a Civic, but try hooking up better at the beginning. Your R/T is great, maybe you need some stickier tires or launching at a lower RPM to get traction.

He was running Drag radials from what it looks like. What kind of tire pressure were you running in those? Looks like you could roll 12.5-12.4 with a little better 60'.

you didn't "get him"

his time was faster...

in a street race...you would have won based on your r/t

BUT on the track, the clock starts when you do...so if you sat there for 3 seconds and then drove the same race, your time wouldn't change...

Actually he did get him, the camaro may have gone faster but he still lost. You are right RT has no play in ET but whoever hits the lights first still wins as advertised by the "right lane finished first by .10xx" on the slip.

Street or track, he who finishes first wins, no matter how you look at it.

"It doesnt matter if you win by an in......etc etc etc....yada yada yada"
ha ha

I was running drag radials @ 12lbs of pressure. I wasnt spinning all that bad, just a bit o turbo lag!! I kept launching harder each run (at a higher rpm) untill the run after this one I snapped an axle. I think I can leave @ about 4300 rpms and be ok with stock axles and radials. Oh heres some pics, (full interior) this motor pic is about 2 months old, Ive cleaned it up since this pic was taken

Do you have traction bars?

I ask cause I have similar setup and I launch around the same rpm on stock axles and never broke one yet!!!!

If you get better axles and some traction bars, drop the clutch much higher, like 6K or so after you do a nice burnout. You should hook up much better.

I'm in the same boat as you, I ran a 12.6 @ 111 mph with a 2.1 60ft. This is where you and I need to better the run and the times will drop even lower, my guess is 12.3ish. I've been afraid to drop the clutch higher and break an axle to get the better run.

3 words....... ADVANCED AUTO PARTS (lifetime warrranty on axles) ha ha he he. No, I dont have traction bars YET, Im going to make my own soon. Since Im boosted, the pping gets in the way of the tow hook mounts for traction bars. My buddy is makin some bars for his 96 hatch right now, He'll only have about $90 in his bars so I figure I can do the same. Oh, and we are gonna run my bars backwards. easier mounting

if you preload the axles before you launch, you will be much much less likely to snap any axles. just make sure to preload those babies!

Exactly right. Anybody who argues R/T doesn't matter is dumping a large part of driver skill down the drain. If you want to show off your ET in some magazine, then great just sit there and watch the pretty lights click off till you're sure it'll start timing you.

Be a real man and cross the line first.

293WHP on 14PSI with a built block? Who tuned your car?

I went 12.0 with my old hatch on BFG's. How are you pulling 2.1 60's on DR's? Drop them down to 1.8ish and you'll be in the midish-low 12 second area.

12PSI is way to low. 18PSI is a sweet spot for alot of tires.
