Default Autox when to switch to R compounds?

At what point should a begineer Autocrosser switch to R compounds? Or does it even matter?

Will you get better by staying on street tires longer?

Or would it be better to start on R compounds from day one?

When you postively 100% know that its the thing that's holding you back from faster times.

The easiest way...find the fastest guy in your region who has a similar car, and ask him for his opinion, whether as a passenger or a driver. If you can beat his times (but keep in mind its the first time he'll be driving your car), then it might be worth looking to get a second opinion. And then you should look at R compounds.

Was there really a need to make two threads about this?
