Well of course get yourself a Koni/GC setup with some pretty decent rates. This is perhaps the best combo out there for $790 with custom rates. Think about the SPSS race-valved shocks also.

Something i can think of, bushings; solid (delrin) spherical, or just new fresh oem rubber ones. 88 crx they are prob shot. Could go poly, but they do have downsides.

Then look at sway bars, esp a bigger rear bar.

Alignment can make a huge difference in how you handle.

As will tires and tire compounds.

But for your target budget of $1000, the Koni/GC, the GC tophats, and a rear sway bar and tires. You will be over $1000, but its money well spent.

Ah I'm glad someone mentioned Delrin. I was looking into Delrin (and Delrin AF), and found out that they have some machining issues. Particularly that they tend to get porous (?) towards the center when you have large diameter rods of it, they deform under the heat of machining, making things imprecise... is this true? If you need to insert the bushing sleeves, wouldn't this cause them to fit poorly and slip out over time?

my 88 CRX si on stock springs and upgraded sway bars front and back with illuminas all around is the best handling car ive setup, for the street.

if i wanted to go a bit lower, id put my eibach pro kits on, but i like it the way it is now.
