Default Need some opinions on which tranny to go with....

okay heres my situation...i have a RS and my clutch needs to be changed very soon, its having trouble releasing so i cant shift right...and i plan on buying one some tym this week

ive been doin research on chaging my tranny and its between a GSR tranny or a B16 with LS 5th...

i kno its been covered many times before, but to you guys out there who hav actually done these types of swaps what are the pros and cons of each tranny?...and can any one confirm that the clutch im goin to get for my RS fit right in with either of these tranny's?.. does a vtec tranny hav any affect on a non vtec engine? ...thnx

correct me if im wrong but, i dont see why there would be any problems between the clutch and tranny, especially considering that the B-series trannys are interchangeable. im a bigger fan of the gsr tranny than the b16, its kind of the middle ground. eh just my .02

sam - who really enjoys the middle ground.

i know the s80 and y80 transmissions were used in the LS/RS/GS models but im not sure if its the same transmission code for the GSR, check the serial number (white sticker) on the transmission casing and if it doesnt begin with S80 or Y80 then you know its at least not an LS. otherwise youll have to count the number of times the input shaft rotates per revolution of the output shaft, do that for each gear and match them up with the GSR transmission gear ratio specs. unfortunately i get a feeling that you might have to do the latter of the two.
