Default Valentine 1 hardwire

Got a present from Mr. Valentine yesterday:

and the install began. The V1 was REALLY easy. Besides trying to figure out where to mount the display, running the wires probably took 10-15 minutes. I used Loki's (from S2ki) directions. Here are the installed pics:

I also was thinking of moving the remote display right above the radio door, under that little ledge(right below the climate control). The only thing that bothers me with the current location is I have to reach with my left hand to mute it. Since the other location will be right by the shifter, I think it'll work out a lot better. Plus, it'll be a little more concealed. I'm going to look at some "L" brackets today for the install. Will update pics.

Here is the updated concealed display relocation.

Side shot of the bracket:

Works a ton better, because I can keep my hand on the steering wheel if I have to push the mute button.

Oh, just make sure, if you're putting the display in the same location, that the radio door isn't going to hit it when you open/close it.

Clean install. I'm ready to ditch my Escort 8500 and get a Valentine 1 .

That's what I did. 8500 worked great, but with the concealed display and arrows, V1 won me over. Install is a snap, too.

Is the valentine worth the hype? I have heard amazing things about it but I just can't push myself to spend that much on a "radar locator". Let me know what you think and if it saves your *** in the near future. I've looked on ebay and used units are still pricey.

There are tons of threads on Valentine reviews. I've had the V1 before and it did save me hundreds of times. I've had the Passport 8500 for the past year and it has also worked well. I just missed the arrows. I think it's worth it and the resale value on ebay should tell you something.

i am so dissappointed by my 8500 (wireless). I was looking, at a cop, literally staring at him while he was hittin me with his laser gun and my escort didnt even make a peep.

That happened to me with my 8500, too. Cop hit both me and my friend, my 8500 stood silent, while his $100 cheap-o detector was going crazy.

I mounted my V1 the same way. I've had the Ver. 1.8 Valentine for a few years, and its definitely the best investment I have ever made. I feel naked driving without it. I don't speed much, but its nice to know where they are. The V1 is definitely the best.

Just got my V1 after my crappy "cobra" detector died after a year of use, and holy crap I really am asking myself why I waited so long to invest in a V1...

Works fine for me. http://www.valentine1.com

They're $400. If you get them on ebay, you'll pay around $370 for one, then $15 shipping fee. Just spend a few extra $$ and get a new one. Also, the new ones come with POP. You'll have to read about that on the website. Remote display is $30, and for me, well worth the money.

And the sensitivity is superior than the Escort 8500 I had. Except the laser warning is a tad too sensitive (d@#$ Envoys!) But better than not sensitive enough, I guess.

WTF did you just say? Can anyone decipher that? Use some punctuation, a$$hat. Being a member for 2+ years and with 1100 posts, it's a wonder how you didn't get flamed into writing comprehensible posts.

I ganked your car, so it came natural.

The stock velcro from V1 sucks major a$$. The bracket had to be used since there were no smooth surfaces on the remote display for the tape to stick to. The only place was in the back, which is why the bracket was necessary. It does look ugly, so if you've got some good velcro, I'll probably switch it out.
