Default Bore the ITR to 2.0 L or build a B20????

My engine smokes like crazy and I'm at a crossroad.

Do I keep the stock block and bore it out to 84-85mm??

Or build a B20 and bore it to 84.5mm-86mm??

I'm looking for torque and reliability to 8200RPMs.

What would you do???

TIA,

You will have to sleeve the ITR block to go that large. If it was me, I would sell the ITR block, and buy a B20 and start from there. Usually what you can sell an ITR shortblock for, you can buy a B20 longblock...

Go the B20 route. It'll be cheaper.

Sell your block, and buy a B20.

The money you would have used on sleeving the ITR block, you can buy your pistons/rods/bearings for the B20 block.

IM me what you think I need and what'll cost if you have the time. Tax returns should be here soon and I'm ready to get this going.......

It's great to see a post where people are in agreement on what somebody should do. It's difficult to decide what to do when you hear 10 replies, 5 of which are useless, and the remaining ones offer different solutions to your problem..

Maybe I'll start hanging out here more often.. if you guys don't mind.

.....or rehone your existing block to 81.25 w/ ctr or rollerwave pistons.

If it were me, i would just overhaul the motor, maybe go to 82mm, and
just spend the money on headwork.
