does the DIY intake really make a difference over stock??
I am considering attempting the air intake as per http://www.geocities.com/bretq/DIY_Icebox_CAI.html
tomorrow.
i was wondering if anyone else here has done this, and if they have, if they noticed an improvement.
would it be beneficial to perhaps change the honda filter with a rampod or cone style filter??
thanx

I have done this
, and there is a definite improvement over stock.
-The engine is more responsive.
-The engine pulls much harder.
-Better low to mid range power.
-Sound is not that much different from stock
I'm extremely pleased with my DIY "Icebox" and I highly recommend it
I would also recommend replacing the stock air filter. I'm using a K&N RU-2820 attached to the stock filter elbow. You can go to http://www.geocities.com/bretq/kn2820_airfilter.html to see some pictures. BTW, K&N has finely released a drop-in filter (E-2427) for the G3 Integras. The only down side to the E-2427 is that it cost ~$70 and the RU-2820 cost ~$30. You can go to https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=121347 to read up on a recent discussion about the RU-2820 and the E-2427.

Yes, I ran a similar setup before the AEM CAI. It definitely is better than stock. I used 4" tubing and a K&N RU-3130. Best 1/4 time with that as the only mod was 15.1@92.5...way better than stock.
I really should have kept this setup over spending $200 on the CAI.

this is what I did, I cut the stock filter off so that all I had left was the elbow piece, and I have a KN filter that looks like the middle one in the picture of the 3 filters on the page you have linked. I don't have any cold air stuff going, but it pulls like a champ regardless.
