Default Where have all the b18c5 gone to?

In regards to all the type R's being stolen lately.......more and more people are swaping in B18C5 with their civics. I am not saying all of them are hot, but it is just threads like this makes me thinks my old B18C5 is sitting in some civic with some thug saying "yo....I got a type R engine and mad skills....wanna race yo?"

a straight trade between a b16a and a "LEGIT" b18c5 is just too hard to believe.

here is the thread: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=134591

Sorry if I offended anyone......it was just my $.02 ...and I apoligize if I offended anyone.

Okay, where do I start?

Should I show you the invoice for the motor from Import Auto Salvage in Marion, N.C? I'm sure Larry Jr. signed it extra neat for us all to see.

Do I need to tell you that I know both parties involved and that the guy who traded away the Type R motor is an idiot?

Did you see the fact that it was a JDM Type R motor swap? You owned a car from Japan? Cool!

The retard who traded it away wanted a B16A because he wanted to boost on it. I tried to tell the idiot that the B18C (R) and B18C5 can both be boosted on, but it would require really good tuning - he didn't listen.

The guy who traded away the JDM R swap also has tons of money, which means he has never known the value of a dollar and how it relates to his "purchases."

I understand your feelings in a way, but threads like THIS anger me because people jump to conclusions without getting more FACTS. I have seen others post up links to "stolen" ITRs because the deal was just "too good" and then a carfax is ran and it's totally legit. I say still check into all the "good deals" but don't be so quick to jump on them and say "stolen."

I bought an ENTIRE totalled ITR for $4,000 even. Stolen? Not even. The owner was local, and RICH, pluds he got an insurance check and kept the car. He sold it all to me and I kept the swap and sold the rest. Deals are so common, but we don't see them all. We're so used to seeing ITR swaps go for $5,500 and $6,800 that we cannot believe the deals like mine and the link you provided - which is probably the one I started!

Next time why don't you IM the thread starter (me) and see if you can't get more info? Do you think if it was a stolen ITR swap that I would be retarded enough to post a topic like that here?

Anyways, sorry to rant, but I own a hatchback with a Type R swap, and generalizations like "thug in a hatchback saying i gOt a tYpE R y0! lEt'S race!" don't go over well with me.

Just like I don't make generalizations about R owners being rich, snobby, elitist ******** whose parents bought their car for them to show them how much they really love them

I see people say that **** and it pisses me off to no end because I have plenty of R driving buddies that bust their assses for their paymets and mods.

Anyways, later.

Okay, I just follwed the link and that's not the thread I started, but the one I started is about that same person's deal and swap.

Do you really think the guy would post pics of the swap and even show the face of the tech who did the install? There's dumbasses out there, but posting up a stolen ITR swap picture gallery would take the cake for stupidity!

I'll link the topic I started about it and it may clarify a little more too

My topic about it:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=133835

It also has a link to the original thread about the swap. Follow that one and read it as well. A little more investigating might have kept you from posting the topic, but oh well huh?

Just trying to keep the misinformation at a minimum

Like I said in my first post, I apologize if I offended anyone, but I guess it was one of those things that make you go "Ummmmm", I have had my share of hot stuff offered to me as well, from amps to engines to the entire car. And I also DO know for a fact that a B18C5 is a expensive swap and hard to come by as well.

So, I am glad to hear that it is a legit thing and he is one luck ****. Sorry if I offended anyone again.

Anyways, sorry to rant, but I own a hatchback with a Type R swap, and generalizations like "thug in a hatchback saying i gOt a tYpE R y0! lEt'S race!" don't go over well with me.

The generalization I said was from where I think my engine is right now, and I have seen R owners being rich, snobby, elitist ******** as well, that just the main reason me being extra carful when reading stuff like that and being offered hot stuff, I have worked too hard for the stuff I own and for the people who take other people's property.....they .

O...and maybe you should check out the link BEFORE you post such long replies... .....it's all good.

I work hard for my **** too, and so does the guy you were talking about, so we're in the same boat.

Why even start a topic though? It wasn't enough to reply to the guy's thread - you had to come over here to the Type R forum to start somehting perhaps? I guess you figure'd you get support over here, and I understand somewhat, but come on man.

The guy told you time and time again that it was legit but you could not let it go at that.

I posted such long replies in an effort to curb your enthusiasm for trying to crucify other members here, that's all.

I hope in the future that YOU do some more research before you post a tropic such as this.

ok...first, I can start a thread on a new post whenever I want. People don;t have to read it if they don't like it. I just wanted people to know about that deal...that's all.

The guy told you time and time again that it was legit but you could not let it go at that.
as I re-call...the guy never told me anything. I started this post BEFORE anything came into play

if you paid any attention to my first post, you would have read at the bottom where I said if it offended anyone, I would apologize.

so...there is no reason to get worked up on.

b18c5 swaps are easy to find. I've seen many imported front clips *JDM*
and lots of posts of *ITR XXX is deceased* so there are plenty of legit swaps from those. I myself have a 2000 ITR swap for sale *legit* (shameless plug )

I'd be pissed if someone was all over me saying my sh*t was hot. I've got nothing to prove to anyone nor waste my time explaining sh*t to anyone about it.

It sucks to have things stolen. We've all had it happen. But when someone stole my shoes back in the day, did i go around saying everyone that had those shoes stole them?

Okay, as for the holes in my argument, try this:

Call 1-800-962-8922

That's the number to Import Auto Slavage. That's where the motor came from. Call and speak to Larry Jr. and ask him if he's ever sold a JDM R swap to Juan Gonzales. He will say YES, and then do this:

Get in contact with the user here named blykins. He is the guy who traded his B16a for the Type R swap. Ask him the name of the guy who traded. It will be Juan Gonzales.

Hey fuzznuts, ther aren't any holes in my argument becaue I KNOW both parties involved in the trade, and if fact, I was THERE when the guy [picked up the swap from Larry Jr. at IAS, so why don't YOU think about that for a while?

this guy posted a topic designed to try and make the guy blykins look like the badguy for trading for a "stolen" motor, and I'm here to set it STRAIGHT since I know the guy in real life - not just on this MB.

There are stolen motors out there, but this wasn't one of them, so leave it alone.

I tried to keep the flames to a min. and even had the line "Sorry if I offended anyone" but u were the onw who kept bringing it up.... at this point now, not me or fuzznuts are saying you have stolen crap or **** like that...so stop telling us to call that shop.

I was just stating the fact that there has been alot of swaps these days...and more ITR's stolen......and that is a fact that we all can see with post like "My ITR was stolen today" and post like "My NEW ITR swap".

I will take the blame for the flame war here....but guy....loosen up!! and take calm down! Geez...

So fuzznuts, I guess you use post count as the measure of a "newbie" then?

Too bad I've been a member here LONGER than you have you dumbass!

Check the days registered, NOT post count, or as in your case post WHORING tally.

- And crunch - I supplied a number for varification that the deal did not involved stolen property because fuzznuts asked me to think of the "holes" in my argument. Unlike dumbshit fuzzynuts I can privide sources and PROOF, not just dribble on a subject

I can let it go as well, but then fuzznuts spreads his ignorance all over again and i just can't sit back and watch that

Here's something to consider...

Whenever I see USDM ITR interior in a Civic or Integra, 9 times out of 10 the serialized # plaque is missing from the center console. Must have "fallen off" when the ITR owner wrecked his car.

Whenever I see a Civic or Integra with a "full Type-R swap" (interior and exterior), it's almost always a "JDM motor" yet for some reason has USDM interior. Weird. You'd think if the guy was going through the trouble of making it JDM, he'd put the JDM interior in there as well. Again, the serialized plaque will be missing from the center console most of the time.

Where are all the H22A Type-S motors? The H22A is a very popular swap for Civics, but you rarely if ever hear of a real Type-S swap into a Civic. The motors are available through IAS and HMO for even cheaper than a B18C5 too. So where are all the Type-S swaps? I bet that if the Prelude-S was available in the US, there would be a lot more "JDM" Type-S swaps running around...

Sure there's guys like me and you who will buy a B18C5 legitimately through an engine import shop, but for every one of us, there's a LOT more people who can't afford to buy an engine and will take the cheap way out and steal an ITR or knowingly buy a stolen motor. You may be correct that it's incorrect to generalize all B18C5 hybrids as having stolen engines, but I think it's an even more incorrect generalization to say that most Honda enthusiasts can afford to buy a $5k engine swap package.

I mean sheesh... What's a more attractive deal to you: 1) Low mile B18C5 with axles, ECU, wiring harness for $4800+SH. or 2) Low Mile B18C5 complete swap with ITR interior & 5-lug conversion for FREE. Unfortunately I know the hard way what deal most people would pick.

Thank You CheezeFrog....that's what I am talking about...I am not saying all hybriders have stolen goods...just that in many cases there are sometimes too many clues that will lead to that conclusion. Of course, there are also the people like us here who will buy stuff with their hard warned cash.

"[/i]just because it was a motor from japan does not mean it is a legit motor. . Car thieves also, reside in japan, and i'm sure there is a lot of shady businesses that would steal jdm motors and import them here "legit".[/i]"

You cast a pretty wide net with that statement.

its always funny to see the newbies take this stuff so personally
Its always funny to see accusations of theft get defended as well - its pretty apparent in this case that while the circumstances are unusual, the transactions all around are above par.

I love it. Whenever somebody makes a generalized statement (no matter how true it is) you'll always get the one or two exceptions to the statement come in and proudly point out how that since they're an exception to the rule that the rule must be invalid. Case in point: There was a thread on another message board arguing how most people in their 50's and up have gray hair. Most people generally agreed and various facts were posted about why this happens, but there was this one guy who interjected and started flaming everybody saying that everybody was full of **** because he still had black hair.

That reminds me a lot of the stolen ITR/B18C5 argument. Perhaps not to that extreme, but there's still no denying the fact that there are a lot of ITRs that are stolen and come up with missing engines/interiors.

Come on now... no need to argue when it's all been cleared. Yes, sadly, there are HOT B18C5 swaps in the market, but I know plenty of people w/ legit B18C5 swaps also.

As for your comment, I couldn't resist but... I run around w/o my # plaque in my R. I know at least 5 others who does the same thing... (adamITR, peeps w/ JDM center console, etc.)

I hear ya...some of us arent fortunate enough to buy a $20k+ car but bust our butt to earn enough money to have same setup...and having people with narrow minded accusing us of "stealing" or having "stolen" "their" engines. Doesn't matter how special your car is. If you get into an accident. Someone will eventually salvage your parts.
