HELP!! Does anyone know what this is?
Ok...i was trying to put my steering coloumn back together when a bunch of sparks lit the underside of the steering wheel where the metal plate screws on.
Now there is no power for the clock, center console, and the car wont start but the car will ding for the door being open and the keys in the starter.
everything else works: headlights, interior lights, instrument lights...etc.
I checked the fuses, i'll check them again.
thanks

horn works. Shorting out the fuse box is a possibility, but if i did, then non of my electronics would work right?
All electronics work except the accessories that need the key to be in the on position.
are there any fuses that are related to the ignition switch/starter? or at least the clock?
I'm thinking i fried a wire, but i looked at all the wires and none of them have any signs (i only checked the possible wires: anything connected to the ignition switch/starter).
man...i could have sworn i disconnected the battery. I know if i take this to a shop, they're gonna charge like 100's.
Thanks everyone.

You probably grounded out the 12v+ for the ignition. Check all the fuses under the hood (big ones and such) along with all the ones under the dash. Why did you have your steering column apart?

I checked...all was good. I'm pretty sure at this point it has something to do with the ignition switch...either the switch itself, or a wire connected to it is fried.

Yea, Im sure they tried jumping the ignition wire (or did) and left it open and you hit it and grounded it out....probably blew a fuse, but I suppose you couldve blown something on the starter out.
sounds like the ignition switch, not the piece where the key goes, but the actual wiring that goes behind it. On my DA, when my switch went out my ac didn't work, radio worked intermitently, other various elect probs. ONce I replaced the ignition switch harness all was solved...$45 at the dealer.

i checked the fuses a third time, it was the 50 amp big one...can't believe i overlooked it. Thanks. Now i'm getting code 22 VTEC pressure valve for some reason...?
Why not have insurance fix it, it's why you pay them a monthly fee, or do you have a huge deductible, that always sucks. Anyways, you could've blown one of those huge fuses under the hood. Does the car crank and not fire or no cranking at all? If you have a honda manual I would look in there to see if there is any testing for the ignition switch and check all the wiring, might be some voltage tests you can do with volt meter to rule anything out.
