Default Mini me spark plugs/timing?

I have a A6/Z6 mini me. The head was milled a bit before I put it on, so I guess my compression is pretty high. I was wondering if I should be using colder plugs. I notice a lot of ticking in hotter weather under high load, and I am guessing this is detonation? Would colder plugs help? And if so, which ones should I get?

Also, should I have the ignition timing set to A6 or Z6 specs? I used A6 because I have the A6 crank pulley and helms manual, but I was thinking lately that the Z6 specs make more sense. What do you guys think?

Please help, I was hoping to work on my car this weekend, and wanted to get these two issues dealt with... I have searched but did not get any conclusive answers...

Use the Z6 specs for timing. Just use the stock spark plugs. Works fine for me.
Try doing a valve lash adjustment as well.

Intake = .007-.009 inches
Exhaust = .009-.011 inches

I had a y8/a6 mini-me and used a 1 step colder plug and had zero problem.

As far as timing, I thought all the Ds were set at 16°btdc?

Thanks guys.

I did a valve adjustment when I first put it together, but I should probably do it again.

For timing, I was under the impression that the Z6 was 20 btdc, and the A6 is 16. I pulled the A6 # from Helm's, but not sure about the Z6.

For one step colder plugs, does anyone have the NGK #? Or a link that describes the codes?

Thanks!

i hope you have a cam gear to make up for the difference between the a6 and z6 heads... not to mention the lil difference that can be accounted for by the milling.

I believe I zero'ed out the head to the block somewhere around 5degrees retarded on the cam.

I was going to get a Y7 cam gear and use that... I heard that will give me the half tooth difference I need... It seems to be exactly a half tooth off right now. (cam retarded) Would that cause detonation?
