Default Spark Plugs

Hey guys I am new to the board, so if this was already talked about then I apoligize. I am wondering how much of a "gap" is required for spark plugs on a 98 LS. How exactly do you install to the gap and all. I really do not wanna mess up my car, and I figured most of you would know this better then me! So I guess my question is, how do I install new spark plus the RIGHT way. Any help is appreciated, thanks again....

i dont have an LS so i dont kno it might be 0.44.. but if you pop your hood and look under it.. there should be an emissions sticker which tells you what plugs to use and what gap, and other info on your car i think... also you could look in your owners manual for the specs on gap, torque spec, and what plugs to use..

my 94ls plug gap is 1.1 mm...very simple to do. just don't over tighten it or you are going to mess up your cyl head. there are instructions on the spark lug box...

Does aftermarket Spark Plugs really help? I always thought they were a waste of money... LMK.

Thanks guys I'll check it out. I was just worried about tightening and how to measure it so it's not too tight. I'll check the manual and what not and then we'll see how it goes.

you is wrong my friend. the bosch's are since they have 4 electrodes...how are you supposed to gap those? but a regular NGK plug must still be gapped to your cars specs.....i know because every NGK plug ive picked up has needed to be gapped to the specs on my catalyst sticker under my hood....they have not had enough gap when i bought them.

So NGK spark plugs are the best way to go?? I am gonna be picking these up tomorrow and hopefully installing em too. So I just use torque em to whatever it says under my hood? A few turns....

Don't overtighten them or they may crack leaving half a plug in your head...bad. Buy a torque wrench (I hate mentioning spending money, but you need this for your car basically everywhere) and torque them to spec. I have to check what it is in a LS. Also use a sparkplug socket, which is a socket that has rubber on the inside to prevent damaging the ceramic on your plug.

If you don't have a torque wrench (go buy one for $70 and consider what you saved by not going to the dealer as payment on the wrench), then tighten the plugs until you just meet resistance, then give it a quarter turn more.

Alright NGK it is! In another post there was someone saying that copper plus give more power, but platinum lasts longer. I think that's what it was....
