Default Transmission Clutch Lever Modification?

ill post this question here, since there are a bunch of DIY gearheads here.

anyone ever shorten their clutch lever (on a cable tranny) to create more mechanical lever ratio at the pedal? (or heard of anyone doing it?)

the point would be not so much quicker shift. i just want to reduce the amount of pedal stroke. its kind of annoying to push so far in. but i still want to ensure full disengagement.

just curious.

lol, i cant figure out if i want to shorten or lengthen it... but i think you all know what i mean.

heres my original post.

Be aware what you give up in stroke is made up for in pressure. Half the stroke means twice the necessary pedal pressure.

I did this to try to compensate for the lack of engagement area with my Tilton twin disk. I didn't so much as shorten it as I changed the angle to try and give a different engagement area. With this clutch the engagement was about 1/2 from the floor. Needless to say it didn't do anything. IMO the cable trannies are crap. I had nothing but problems with it once any power was applied. You also have to remember that if you do shorten the arm or lever that you will overthrow the bearing when the pedal is depressed. Make sure you set up a pedal stop and you might be able to get away with it. Good luck
