Default 100 amp 220v inline connector?

I'm making an extension cord for the welder at my shop, but I want it to be able to supply full power to the welder. Most 220v plugs i've seen will only carry 50 amps max, and my Syncrowave 250 is rated at 98amps at full load. I found these, they're for stage lighting and about $55/side. Anyone know of anything else available?

Whatever type I put on it. It had a 50amp plug on it, but i've got it hardwired right into the breaker box right now. I want to have a plug on it so I can make an extension cord, but I don't want to be limited on welding capability with the 50amp plug. I know you can probably use it over 50amps, but i'd rather just have the right stuff on it. I'm working on some ramps for a dyno and it's pretty thick alum, 50amps won't cut it, I know because i was popping a 50amp breaker before I could the right heat in it.

Tig unit? Have you considered extending the leads?

PS...you might want to try this board for your answer.

Yeah, it's a tig, Miller 250. I could extend the leads, but i'd like to be able to unplug it if needed. The cord coming out of it is about 10' long and the extension piece i've got is about 15' long. I know the cable is uses for power is fairly expensive as well, so if i'm going to spend the money, i'd like for it to unplug w/o having to get into the breaker box. Just wondering if anyone has used anything like those pictured above or knows of another type of connector that can be used.

Try

http://www.millermotorsports.c...p?f=3

They will know where to find something like that

Now you got me thinking though, cause I will be running a synchrowave 180sd soon and it will have to be hooked up to an extension cord.

Are you going to modify an extension cord, or do they come with those terminals already at the end ?

Post some more links on where you are finding this stuff.

That post is about a dynasty 200, which doesn't draw anywhere near as much current as the syncrowave 250. Hell, you can run the dynasty 200 off 110v.

He was asking about an extension cord , if you read furthur down they were explaining how to make one. He(90Blackcrx) wants to buy a 180sd and doesn't know how to wire up the plug.

Can't you use the 8awg cord for a 180sd?

Sorry to go off topic but I though thats what Blackcrx was asking

A dryer plug like that is only rated at 30 amps, so i'm not even sure that a 180 would work with that. I have been told by a few people now that they've run well over 50amps through a plug rated at 50amps, just gets a little hot after a while. Home depot has the 50amp plugs and recepticles, so that'll probably get the job done for 75% of the people looking to do something like this.

The 180sd is rated at 50 amps, so a 50 amp fuse would be cutting it close. I will check that link out though.
