Default High RPMs bad for A/C Compressor?

My year-old compressor sounds louder than it used to. Or it is just my imagination...? Anyway, it is louder at higher RPMs when I am cruising on the highway and seems like it is getting worse.

Is it harder on the A/C to cycle at higher RPMs?

I am switching to Duracool from R134a since R134a just plain sucks.
