Brembo Crossdrilled and slotted rotors
Now I am fixin to put these rotors on all four wheels here in a few days, I also got some Hawk pads coming as well. Now can anyone show me a pic or tell me how the rotation is supposed to be so I do this right the first time?
Thanks !
Thanks !
The slots on the Brembo rotors should be oriented such that that part of the slot closest to the brake pad leads. This forces the brake pad into the caliper tighter so as to not cause rattling.
This should be in the instruction sheet that all Brembo's come with.

Brembo's dont come with an instruction sheet because Brembo does not drill and slot their rotors.
Any brembos you get that are drilled and slotted that dont come from a brake kit that they make themselves (big brake kits, porsche brakes, etc) are done after the fact. Imagine a fat greasy mechanic with brembo blanks drilling holes in them.
Brembo has no instructions because Brembo didnt make them like that.
And I wouldnt trust them, but that's for you.

Well, then I've a real problem with the Tire Rack, cuz that's where I bought Brembo Slotted / coated rotors in original sealed Brembo Boxes.
In Bembos' own literature they specify that they will not warranty their cross drilled versions:
Direct from Tire Rack "Product Details"
"Brembo Sport slotted brake rotors are for drivers who want to improve the looks and performance of their vehicle’s original braking system without having to change additional brake components. Brembo Sport slotted brake rotors provide excellent stopping power in everyday traffic, as well as high performance street and track driving.
Brembo Sport slotted brake rotors match the vehicle’s original equipment rotor’s dimensions and are fully compatible with its hubs, brake calipers and road wheels. Front and rear Brembo Sport slotted brake rotors are available to provide a matched appearance on all four corners of the vehicle, and employ one-piece vented or solid rotors depending on the vehicle’s original equipment specifications.
Starting with select castings, Brembo Sport slotted brake rotors undergo the race-born practice of machining multiple shallow slots into the disc’s front and rear surfaces to provide paths to disperse built-up heat and gasses, and assist in refreshing the surface of the brake pads. Compared to cross-drilled rotors, machined slots have been widely adopted for racing and street use because they minimize the cracking caused by repeated, high stress, high temperature brake applications. The slots are angled to use the rotors’ direction of rotation to enhance their performance, which makes the rotors side-specific with left and right side rotors. Brembo Sport slotted brake rotors are sold in axle pairs and the easiest way to verify correct usage is to install the rotors on the side of the vehicle that results in the end of the slot nearest the outer edge of the rotor always contacting the brake pads first.

Brembo does make slotted rotors, and they also make cross drilled rotors for our cars.
What they don't make are drilled AND slotted rotors, which are sold all over town on eBay and such. The ones with slots and holes are blanks machined by an aftermarket shop, and the quality varies. There's no way Brembo would warrany them after this is done to the blanks. I wouldn't trust them, but that's my opinion. Lots of people seem to like them and you hear more warnings than actual problems.

That has been my experience as well.
There is one additional note:
Although they do manufacture crossdrilled rotors, Brembo will not Warranty them. I would presume they've seem too many of them crack from heat/stress risers.

Yea people think that having these slots and holes do SO much for braking performance; unless you autocross and have a big brake kit, you wont feel the difference. The gases that the drilling was designed to expel arent really a problem anymore.
And I stand corrected on the difference between the Brembo products

Well I sold my Eibach Pro kit lowering springs for 130.00, bought the Brembo cross drilled and slotted rotors for 150.00 so 20 bucks outta pocket I think I made a pretty good deal, the only daylight these rotors seen when I got em, is when I carried them in the house never been installed but are getting installed this weekend. I am going to pull all 4 wheels, clean my calipers real good and paint them blue. I have Hawk pads that just came in today I will paint the black metal with break silver spray paint. My calipers will be blue, the metal for the pads will be silver, and my rotors will be silver. I think it will make a good match.
