tightening alternator belt

Default tightening alternator belt

do i pivot the alternator towards the back or the front to tighten?

i know, stupid question isnt it? just making sure cause my dumbfuck brother kept telling me to push it the other way.... and hes been working on these cars for 8 years... hahaha

Stick a big flathead between the alternator and the bracket closest to the block and pull on the flathead. You push the alternator toward the firewall. Then tighten the bolt.
