Infineon Video - CRX vs Sentra vs Integra...
Plus, Kenji got clipped before the CRX finally stopped.
A follow up to the chatter about the Infineon SNAFU:
Tough weekend for all those involved, but I'm glad everyone was alright. Thanks to Scott for being a stand up guy and being appologetic after the incident. He felt bad but I think he'll be back...

It looks, up until the last half-second, you have enough room to squeeze through, then the red car gets a nudge in the rear from the blue car and stops with his corner on the track. Damn!
I watched a few tmes to see what someone could have done different, maybe lock up the brakes earlier... there just ended up being nowhere to go.

I though I had a clear lane to the left of Mike... it was that or hit the rear of his car. I actually was surprised when the **** ended up in front of me - it looked like the trouble was over track right.

Man that was a messed up moment bunch of cars getting damaged. You cant see anything untill you are coming down the hill. Its hard to decided what to do but it would have been best to braked earlier and tucked behind Mike Quan. I hope you get the car back to as good as new and we can race again. As i said its hard to decide maybe i would have done exactly as greag did which seemed safe at the time. Im just glad no one was hurt.

That's how you make the wheelbase of Greg's Integra 2.5" shorter on the left side. There was nowhere to go. You can second guess it all day long, but it was either hit Mike, or aim for the opening.
edit... can we see it without the zoom feature?

Man, that is just a painful vid to watch for so many drivers involved. Glad no one was injured and I hope that everyone gets back to the track soon.

I actually was planning on going left but in the split second before I committed, I hesitated. I hesitated because I thought that the CRX was starting to/ was still going backwards. It was too late almost immediately. I caught a flash of something already there (left) in my peripheral vision (Kenji, it turns out) & IIRC someone right. Thinking that All I could do @ that point was brake. I puckered up & hoped that I wouldn't cream the CRX or get hit from behind. Big thanks to Greg for moving left.
In retrospect, I had more room in front of me than I thought. This is even if the CRX didn't get smacked by the Sentra. If Greg had followed me, we both probably would have been alright. In that split second before, there was no way to assume that would be the case.

I really feel bad for all of you involved. There wasn't anything Greg could do with the sensory overload of having many cars going every which direction. And that's with not knowing if someone was behind him ready to impale his bumper. Was the Sentra the cause of the incident?

Looks like the sentra hit something black? I couldn't tell.

I've watched the vid a bunch of times and I think the red miata rear ended the sentra and pushed him into me. That was consistant with what the sentra driver said when I talked to him after the accident. He said he would have missed me, but got hit from behind. If you watch the video, you can see as they go over the hill that the miata is right on him. My bet is that the miata was so close to him that he couldn't even see me sitting in the middle of the track, so when the sentra went for the brakes, the miata just plowed into him and pushed him into me.
As far as Kenji and Greg, I think they both did the right things, but just got collected as my car spun from the inital hit. Greg definitely would have had a clear path had I not bounced off Kenji and ended up back on the track. Sorry about your cars guys and I'm glad you were both able to get back out and finish the weekend.

If it's up to me, I'd prefer to see the raw real-time footage with no tweaks.

I watched that footage on the computer after it was captured, and the zoom gives you a much better idea of what happened

Z, what the hell is this encoded in? I assume I've got an old fashioned WMV codec...?
EDIT: Downloaded Media Player 10 and it still won't play. Hmm...
EDIT: Just paste the link location into another browser window, it will download correctly. It's apparently downloading two copies of the file back to back, which is causing the file corruption.
