Default Need towhook measurements (for crossmember construction)

I'm going to fab up my own crossmember and upon initial inspection i realized my drivers side tow hook is bent. I can bend the bracket back but i want to make sure the mounting plane of the bracket is still where it should be.

Can somebody please measure the distance between the outsides of the tow hooks. Or if you have an aftermarket crossmember that bolts to the tow hooks, a measurement of that outside distance between the brackets will also work (same thing).

Thanks!!!

Vince

I dunno how much of a hurry you are in, but my cars in the shop (go figure) so I won't be able to get you a measurement until like friday eveningish. I can also give you some good dimensions for how tall the make the mounting tabs in order to clear the bulkhead but still not bottom out all the damn time.

Yeah that's fine, i still have to go purchase a MIG...no more borrowing!

I have a bracket i just drew up in CAD that locates a 1-5/8" tube as close to the bottom of the stock radiator support as i can for ground clearance. If you don't mind i'll compare.

Thanks again for the info.

Thats good, If there is anything wrong with my design, i believe it is that it hangs about a inch too low. I'll get you some numbers for comparison though.

Yeah it's interesting...imagining it in my head it seems that the 1-5/8" tube will be low enough to be lin plain sight with the bumper/lip installed.

The only thing that gives me hope is that i believe the full race bar is a simple bolt in. Looking at it's picture it seems that they have their crossmember tube in the same location, as close to the bottom of the rad supports as possible.

I haven't seen a full race bar in person so this is just an assumption.

Thanks again,

Vince
