Just saw this, and was pretty amazed. 7.15.63 is really moving!
In a Porsche 996 GT 2 RS with 614hp! Having driven a stock GT2 here with the standard 450hp at Big Willow, it's amazing they found more speed with the car!

You'd think they'd actually be able to spell it correctly after putting in such an incredible effort and coming through with this amazing achievement.

Jaker IM pythonScott as he recently drove it and might be able to tell you more.

Haha, did not even notice that. Maybe it got lost in the translation. Usually everything on KW's site was first in German!
Maybe that is how you pronounce it?

I just watched the video and was pretty surprised the driver was in short sleeves...and even more surprised that there were other cars on the track.
Which made me wonder, the other teams that did this "time attack," if they were under the same conditions, could it be possible, they just faced more traffic?
I noticed in some corners, he had to take a different line cuz there was bikes, cars, a van whatever that was in the way. Surely, over such a long course a number of these "well placed obstacles" could lead to a marked deficit in time....
Then again, I can't see teams like this renting out the 'ring all to themselves....
Still amazing nonetheless....

nope, just pay your $20 or so and you play at your own risk. even the moving obstacles. i wish the states made people take responsibilty for your own actions.
that place would be shut down in a heartbeat here due to insurance cost

$17/lap.
I'll be doing this in three-four weeks in a E46 M3 w/ SMG.

I think the lawsuits would shut it down because I don't think anyone would give them insurance.

On several occasions it's clearly seen that the driver has to hold back and/or wait to get around other cars. He definitely could have shaved off some time had he been the only one around the track. And I don’t blame him. With no corner workers, there could be a crashed car parked on the middle of the track in a high speed blind turn for a relatively long period of time before it would get removed. All the while, nobody knows it’s there.
Some interesting info about the Ring. Legally, it is considered a one way public toll road, but without a speed limit. German road laws apply theoretically, and for this reason (ironically) car insurance is mandatory as well. Outside of a sanctioned event (when it is not considered a public road anymore), street legal tires are also required at all times, no matter what car you drive. I believe the German police gets involved whenever there is an injury, or a dispute over a multi car incident, too. Still when I was there, I was both astonished that there literally weren't several fatalities every single day and at the same time also blown away by the Ring's scenery, difficulty, mystique, and the many many places where you would be in BIG trouble if you just slightly put a wheel wrong.

I've read that there have been cases of the insurance covering it, yes. However, I've heard now that many German insurances companies spell out the Nordschleife by name as an exception that will void the coverage. But please don't base decisions off of this, since it's only information I still remember off the top of my head from when I first researched info about the Ring some time ago. A good source for info is http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/ for anyone considering going there.
