Default the mileage game v. insertyourmiles

hello HT

i hope this doesnt count as spam.

I have been looking at integras/preludes lately... and ive come across a 93 lude that i really like.

the only thing that is setting me back is that it has 150k miles on it. however, according to the seller, it just had its pumps/clutch/timing belts changed recently.

i am totally new to preludes, and i would like your input, specifically how many miles your lude has and if there are any problems i need to know of .

also, what is the average MPG that you get driving around? i am kinda worried about that since the gas prices have been rising pretty rapidly lately.

and one last thing, how much of an insurance hike am i going to be looking at if i go from a civic -> lude?

thanks a mil!

a couple things here....

i would ask for reciept proof for at least the timing belt change because there this no reason for the belt to be changed at around 150k. normal would be 90k and 180k for that.

as far as the miledge and insurance go it depends on the specific prelude model it is, for example .....

models avaliable are

VTEC (h22) avg 20 mpg (i have actually seen anywhere between 18-32 mpg in mine just depends on how you drive and the road conditions)

Si (h23) dont know this is a middle of the road engine w/ 160 hp yadda yadda

S (f22) this is the low end engine model w/ 140 hp, this is a good engine however... you should see the best gas miledge and cheapest insurance out of this model...

hope this helps... if you want more specific info on these different models look at the sticky essential prelude forums or do a search

I got 29-31 mpg with both my H22 and H23. I drive conservatively but get on it every once in a while.

I have MANY receipts to prove it too.

Roughly I got about 28MPG...considering the power that even bone stock Prelude's put out I was very happy with 28MPG.

A guy at work has a 96 VTEC model and he snapped a timing belt. Through the Honda dealership it ended up costing him almost 2400 bucks. But remember anybody with a shirt that says certified mechanic is a ******* genius

I have a '92 Si H23vtec Frankenstein with CAI, Megan (~DC) ceramic header - running through stock exhaust right now.

Strictly highway, I got just over 30mpg (with a/c going). At about 100 town miles and 100 highway miles I got just shy of 28mpg.

I'm not sure, but I think he may mean total mileage as in I have 145,000mi on my h22.

Otherwise I get from 20-30 depending.
