I stick with a good ol American Fram with the grip at the end.
Makes it easier when replacing it.

Some jdm ballers like to go bling with HOP filters.

Wont make a difference as long as its the right size for your app.

read up on http://www.bobistheoilguy.com. I think his forums are archived. Once you read over the forums you will see that fram and K%n and most of the brand name filters aren't that great. I suggest, WIX or factory filter, or whoever produces the honda factory filters.

I used to use a K&N also but now switched to a walmart supertech filter. It does a just as good job. No need in spending about 10 bux on oil filter. the supertech also has better single and multiple pass efficiency ratings over crappy fram filters.

you shouldn't need a grip tool, since you shouldn't make it that tight in the first place....should be able to do it by hand.

my friend put a fram on his car.....it clogged, pretty much ruined the entire motor from running it for 10-15 seconds with no oil pressure.

Purolator Pure Ones run about 5-6 bucks and are one of the best when it comes to filtration ... a lot of people like Mobil 1 too but they run about 10 bucks. Depending on your dealer/location the OEM filter might be a FRAM.

i use an s2000 oil filter. the only one that still uses the old filter element instead of whatever they switched to now (fram, i think?).

Problem is that the USDM OEM filters are made by Fram. Stick with a filter made by Champion Labs ( Mobil1, Bosch, Supertech, K&N, STP) or Wix

Just because a company makes something for another company doesn't mean they make them to the same specs

Yep, made by HAMP. But the Filtech and Fram OEM filters probably aren't bad. As far as I know, the OEM Honda ones always have a metal bypass valve, even when they are manufactured by Fram. Fram is notorious for having crappy cardboard bypass valves that are prone to failure, but those wouldn't be used in an OEM filter made to Honda spec.

I have had good luck with Purolator Pure Plus (and the exact clone, Pep Boys Proline for 50 cents less). The Purolator PureOne is good, but has low flow numbers for those who worry about oil flow.

As was said by Timmy8151, Champion lab products and Wix (Napa Gold) are always excellent choices. Also, Pennzoil filters are just rebadged Fram as well, so I steer clear of them.
