Default car wont start ***FRIED SOMETHING*** has to do w/ starter i think HELP!

hey guys, me and 90tegb17 have been ******* with this car for the past 2 hours...

we tried to turn it over and it kinda whined, then clicked leading us to be ALMOST positive it was a bad starter so we go get one...

we hook everything back up (wire wise) and he was going to see if the teeth would spin so with the starter hooked up but not mounted he put the negative batter cable back on...(not knowing the key was already in the start position) so as soon as he touched the terminal we got a 4th of july show from the battery/starter...but at any rate it spun for a sec, we went ahead and mounted it and all we get is CLICK CLICK CLICK, im thinking we fried the starter or something that MAKES the starter spin...

we also got a few codes one that caught my eye was 20 i believe and it was POWER supply overload...

anyway the starter relay (beside the main relay) is good
main relay is good
getting fuel
dizzy looks great

wtf is wrong with the starter...

also teg i forgot i dont have a battery to test these others with, the one in my cars are sideposts! argh

hit me up when you get done, any help is appreciated!

If anything fried(short circuited or open circuited) it would have been the relay or the solenoid. DC electric motors like the one in your starter generally don't fry, their bearings fail. 4th of July testing in the starter is no big deal done it plenty of times myself, it's just because the jumper cables aren't the best connection.

I believe your battery doesn't have enough juice to turn the motor over. Charge it overnight and see what happens.

there were no jumper cables involved here... the key was on start and the starter was hooked up but loose so we could see it spin before we installed it, anyway my friend put the neg cable itself back onto the batter and it fried all over the place... im not referring to tapping jumper cables togather it was 3 to 4 times that... anyway, maybe your right about the batter, but i stuck it in my buddies car right after that and it cranked his car right up...

also, even with the battery being a little on the week side the starter still did NOTHING when we tried to hot wire, the hot and neg wires on the starter w/ a screw driver

what else in the electrical sys could be bad? all the fuses and wires to fuses are ok, in the main fuse box and the dash fuse box... thanks for any of the replies! any help is better than none!
