Default Benefit(s) of a longer dumptube?

In a recent PM from my tuner (Jeff Evans), he made it clear that i should make sure my dumptube is long enough and goes underneath my oil pan (like my downpipe). Currently it dumps straight down and ends about where the oil pan meets the block (according to pre-installation test fitments). Now I trust Jeff 110% and if needed will extend my DT...but I'm just wondering why he wants me to do this? Is there any benefit to this? I was under the impression the longer the dump tube, the more chance that spiking will occur? Thanks guys!

i also thought maybe having the dump facing the rear of the car would cause a sort of vacumm effect with the exhaust gases and "suck them out" so to speak...any truth to this?

there was a thread awhile back where someone gained some crazy amount of power because the intake was sucking it in

Does not matter since the exhaust combustion has already past the turbine.

Edit. Ooops, I did not realize wastegate runnning open dump.

bingo! i'll definitely back up that information. just make the dumptube long enough so the exhausts gases are routed away from the engine bay.

its prolly to vent the hot excess gases underneath your engine bay rather then heatin it up and cause signs of smoke leakin underneath the hood...

I got a full custom kit from Spoolinperformance...my dumptube is routed underneath my oil pan......and it was braced to the downpipe to fortify its structure craftsmenship is great

mine was ran back into my exhaust at about a 45 degree angle a little past the oil pan and it never spiked or creeped. now a buddy of mine that ran it straight from the manifold to where the pipe starts to bend gets spike/creep like crazy.
