Kinda OT but I need my Type R families opinion
Hey all,
Long time no post for me. I've been busy with some other cars (see sig) but I always seem to come back to H-T. I have a dilemmia that I think only the type R family can help me with. Here's the problem.
Over the past few years I've owned several cars and dumped several thousands of dollars into them with nothing to show. Currently I'm selling my M3 because I'm sick of the high payments for an older car plus I've got some medical bills I gotta pay. I'm in need of a new car now that is cheap, reliable, and fun. I would get another R in a freaking heartbeat but I was only looking to spend 10 or so. My question is what car would be best for a DD without the disgusting urge to mod that I have been cursed with.
I was thinking on the lines of the below cars:
99-00 Civic Si (or hatch)- pretty fun to drive and good gas milage
99-00 2.5rs - (the cool body style). Good for the winter because of AWD.
??-?? - Golf GTI
older sentra-se-r
My current salary is in the High 30's and my rent is only about 700 per month. My insurance is kinda high cuz I'm not 25 yet but that will change in November. My G/F says get a corolla but I just can't do that to myself (it would suck to get in everyday). What do you guys think?? As always I appeciate your help.

PS - God do I miss my freaking R. (BBasso any negative remarks will cuz me to come to brooklyn and go postal on your ***)

personally it whould be between the si and the 2.5 rs for me, i really like both of them and they are both really nice cars and can be had in good shape for the price your willing to spend
i think i whould pick the si i just like the way they look, and the b16 is a good mix between great gas mileage and its not that slow that its gonna **** you off if its stock

My friend is selling a 99 Si with a GSR motor in it. Minor mods except the motor. Also throwing in a FREE BRAND NEW turbo kit.
Was previously stolen. $6500ish

Hottt cars, but prone for lots of expensive problems.
I almost got a 98 A4 for $6k a few months ago that was nice as hell. Then I found out the susp is prone for problems and cost like $3k to replace every few years

I'm not hating, but with a 700 dollar rent, and 40k, if you wanted to save for a house, you shouldn't be driving anything near as expensive as what you were driving before.
A car should not be half of what you make a year. A 99-00 si will only get stolen in jersey, get a cheap reliable civic sedan, price and wants are two different things.
I would get something cheap and build up some income to buy a house.

Yeah I'd be financing whatever I got. Unfortunalty I don't have a ton of cash saved up to just drop on a car.

I double dare you to come to Brooklyn wise guy! and you might want to bring your girl to get your back

I know you not hating and your opinion is greatly appreciated!!! Theft is not that HUGE of a problem for me. My old PY ITR was parked outside for a full year in my apartment complex without being tocuhed.

Do you beleive everything you hear?
The only suspension problems they had were control arm replacement, which is about $200 per side, and every 80-100k miles.

The si is slow as ****, I would have to do something to it. Not saying that a R is the fastest thing in the world but stock for stock the R will walk the si. I paid around 10k for my r and its in great shape.
What isn't these days...
Have you thought about the Element?, they are easily found '03 models with low mileage...
Usefull all year around and it does have a K series motor
I have seen them from 10-15k.

It is the balljoint that fails.
